Popular Post HappyExpat57
No, sorry not sorry. Someone should have told the engineers it occasionally rains heavily in Thailand.
Popular Post hotchilli
Three weeks ago I noticed a bird making a nest under a displaced roofing tile on an adjacent roof-top. I told the apartments office and maintenance man, as it was obviously going to be an issue when the rains hit. As usual nothing was done. Yesterday hoards of people came from the main office to inspect the rain damage to the apartment below that roof area... home flooded out. Thainess. 3

Did any roofs collapse during the recent record breaking deluge in and around New York? You know, a place where they know how to build properly.

You engineer a roof to withstand any weather condition known in the locality . Obviously the engineering design is at fault and not the rain .

It should also be designed for a certain amount of time and with these specific types of roof coverings there should be O&M manuals and periodic inspections. The question is were they doing that? There should be records of them from the building maintenance crew.
TroubleandGrumpy
This, and all the other 'collapses' over the last few years (roadways, airport terminals, this, etc etc etc ) never seem to make it on to the TAT press releases about Amazing Thailand. This is not a country where you can take things like safety for granted.

Middle Aged Grouch
Same for those villas with pools that look very nice on the photo but shortly after delivery the paint starts to chip and cracks appear on the facades. Never understood why farangs like to waste their money in buying property in Thailand.
