Three weeks ago I noticed a bird making a nest under a displaced roofing tile on an adjacent roof-top.

I told the apartments office and maintenance man, as it was obviously going to be an issue when the rains hit.

As usual nothing was done.

Yesterday hoards of people came from the main office to inspect the rain damage to the apartment below that roof area... home flooded out.

Thainess.

You no unnerstan mista. When speak to us no ploblem. No raining sir. Apartments ok.

Did any roofs collapse during the recent record breaking deluge in and around New York? You know, a place where they know how to build properly.

Not sure but they have had their fare share of bridge and building collapses. And….there was no rain ????

Blame the rain not the engineering.

Good thing it happened before the event started.

You engineer a roof to withstand any weather condition known in the locality .

Obviously the engineering design is at fault and not the rain .

Yes I agree with you, but when was it built? as we all know maintenance is not on the agenda here in Thailand

It should  also be designed for a certain amount of time and with these specific types of roof coverings there should be O&M manuals and periodic inspections.

The question is were they doing that? There should be records of them from the building maintenance crew.
