What are the steps to report and claim compensation for physical injury that was caused by unsafe pavement and that required professional medical treatment?

Just in case you woke up mistaking you're in another, more caring country, this is Thailand you're living in...

unless it is something that actively harms you like drain covers that break resulting in you falling in, something broke and fell on your head... or you can build enough traction on social media or getting media coverage back home complaining loud enough, it's not worth it

life's cheap here, you are advised to exercise due caution, or stick to the bubbles of hotels and air conditioned malls where they have liability insurance

Write a full report in Thai about the incident and request the amount that you would like from the BMA.  Don't forget to include your bank details in order to receive the funds.

When your request is ignored, as it will be, sue them.  Or, save yourself a lot of money and just forget it.

Damages awarded in successful suits here are much smaller than in the West and would be limut to compensation of actual losses incurred.

Also in the "West" compensation is usually only for actual expenses. It's mostly in USA that people can claim fanciful amounts due to emotional disorder or whatever.

But yes, you are right on the whole, OP should forget it unless he had to undergo serious surgery or such.

Just stick a tree branch in it and move on.  There's a huge explored deep drain outside of Tescos (about the size of motorcycle) but it has a tree branch in it.  It's filled with rainwater as well so if you are a child or it's nighttime than you will die.

Good luck mate. I, for one, won't hold my breath waiting for you to get anywhere.
