AN forum recently removed reputation scores next to members user names.

Featured Replies

I see AN forum have recently removed reputation scores next to members user names.

Sad to see as in the past it was easy to identify the Newbies.

Why the change.?

Who cares, why should anyone care? I’d assume if some individuals are on forums to gain some sort of validation or prove themselves, then they probably have social issues to begin with.

reputation scores were pointless.

a confused emoji bumps up your score.

a laughing emoji bumps up your score, and someone could be laughing AT you, not with you.

reputation scores would only make sense if only thumbs up and thumbs down existed.

Enter your post in a different web page or a different app.  Then select, copy, paste and hit Submit to minimize the time you're actually typing into the AN reply field.

And if you want to anonymously loiter, just browse in a Private window/tab.

And this is a perfect example of why the 'reputation feature' is perhaps handy for some.

Previously we could look at your comment, see 82 posts next to your name and see that you have zero likes, we can safely assume that all your posts are time wasting trolls.

Conversely, we could previously look at posts others have made and see from their reputation that the majority of their posts have been valued positively by the forum community in general and thus their response is likely to be more valuable and their experience more reliable.

Not always the case of course, but if we are to generalise, without knowing, it could be assumed that most of your posts were a trolling waste of time and whatever 'reputation' you had reflected that.
