Popular Post webfact Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 A 60-member committee to probe into the potential launch of entertainment hubs, inclusive of casinos, has been established by Thailand’s House of Representatives. This move seeks to rectify the issue of underground casinos and invigorate the nation‘s financial state, as suggested in a proposal put forth by members of parliament from diverse parties. The endorsers of the proposal encompassed Thoedchart Chaipong, a Pheu Thai MP for Chiang Rai; Non Paisanlimcharoenkij, a Move Forward Party MP for Nonthaburi; and Chatchawal Kong-udom, a United Thai Nation Party list-MP. The process of establishing a committee to explore this matter was debated upon in a House session presided over by House Speaker Wan Muhamad Noor Matha. Rangsiman Rome, a Move Forward Party list-MP, conveyed his agreement, whilst cautioning that a parallel working group had also been set up by the preceding House of Representatives to scrutinise this issue. by Puntid Tantivangphaisal Photo courtesy of Pattaya Mail Full story: The Thaiger 2023-10-30 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Popular Post Thailand Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 Thaksin and his sister almost got it going in 2006 (Sept coup killed it) with the backing of a Macau syndicate. Looks like that the old players are all back in the game? It's going to happen sooner rather than later. 5 4
likerdup1 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Bangkok, the new "Vegas" of SE Asia. I never cared for Las Vegas much. I lived there for a short time. The place had a bad vibe. Seemed like half of the residents there are always on the hustle. Lots of scams and way less than ethical stuff going on. Trying to buy a used car there was a joke. Talk about scams. 2 1
Popular Post redwood1 Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 Casinos.....Everyone loses .......Except for the Casino....Even winners become losers in time.......The winners who can walk away are a drop in a bucket... 2 1

Yes it would only work if they restricted access to non residents. Otherwise Thais would lose their incomes which would profit only to Swiss bank accounts. Hence depressing the Thai economy even further. Funny, it seems that in Thailand no one has ever heard of the "seven whys". Maybe they spell it differently. 3

Popular Post NemoH Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 It has the potential to be the biggest casino in south east Asia with the poor Regulatory n High corruption index of Thailand which lack proper money laundering laws, weak enforcement regime, poor crime control record, reluctant police n Regulators.. Then all the rest of the gangs will come - the global underworld, the scammers n the hustlers because the other evils are already here - drugs cannabis and prostitution. Consequently- a morally corrupted society, addiction, cycle of poverty, crime n breakup of families .. and a wider income gap between the haves n the people who have not … caused by disproportionate income growth n inflation. Casino brings inflation. Examples - LA, Macau, Singapore all in different stages of the cycle. Benefits - more tax for government. More job opportunities but low level. 2 1
Walker88 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 When you cannot compete with Silicon Valley, are starting to lose out to Vietnam that will offer better incentives for FDI, when exports are faltering, and when drought threatens to impact the ag sector....embrace VICE with both hands. (Just don't hire trump as a casino consultant...the guy was so bad he bankrupted several of them). Maybe hire Pansy Ho?
Popular Post Will B Good Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 Other than adopting nuclear powered subs and power stations.......this is the single biggest mistake Thailand could make. Anyone know how their space program is going? 2 5

Popular Post Bangkok Barry Posted October 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2023 Some on here are expressing concern. Don't worry. A proposal to have casinos in Thailand comes around every now and then - including only a few months ago when 'they would be situated in Chonburi'. Then those involved in the proposal are taken aside and reminded who owns the illegal ones, untouchables who lurk in the shadows and who have no intention whatsoever of allowing others to dilute their massive earnings. As happened with the recent proposal. And it all gets forgotten until the next time. 3 1 1
ignore it Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Sure legal casinos for the tourists and rich. Bring on the chinese charter flights. Illegal online and speakeasy gambling dens for the people. Management by or backhanders for the RTP. Yep. Pick your own lotto numbers terminals without searching racks of 18th century style tables; Nope
klauskunkel Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Quote Legalising casinos the BiB won't like this one bit
Trippy Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Casinos in Thailand? I'll believe it when I see it.

It should be interesting to watch the opposition. Plenty of discourse on the subject from the USA which regularly goes round and round in states and localities. New ... "What happens in Chiang Mai, stays in Chiang Mai".
Sydebolle Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 A 60-member committee Quite a number of envelope receiving candidates; if you go into details you might see one or the other member having - purely coincidental of course - some interesting links to parties, party members and leadership? Just legalize casinos and get on with it; see how the West gets around all this and makes mega bucks in taxes and ancillary services like the hospitality trade. Nobody would visit i.e. Poipet for its offerings on the flower market 😉 1 1
DGS1244 Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Should have been legalised years ago instead of letting other countries like Cambodia make all the money from visiting Thais. 1 1
Jackbenimble Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 It had to happen one day......it almost happened before the coup took place. There is a downside to Casinos that people like to play down understandably. Racketeering, drugs, prostitution.........and that's just the RTP!!! lol. It will bring a huge boost to the economy though. Hotels, bars, restaurants, the girls........it will be interesting to see who is given the Licences. 1
Kerryd Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Their Chinese masters have spoken and so it shall be done. Once the locals are destitute and homeless, the country will be ripe for a Cambodian (or Myanmar) style gov't to take over permanent control of the country. A gov't that the Chinese will control as they work to exert their influence on every country in the region they don't already control by proxy. 2
