Pattaya — Taxi drivers in Pattaya apologized to a Thai couple after attacking them on Walking Street because they thought the couple were ride-hailing drivers.

On October 29th, Mr. Sathit Ruenjit, the 41-year-old victim, and Mr. Pranot Ketthong, the 48-year-old representative of the Pattaya taxi drivers, met at the Pattaya Police Station to settle the dispute which happened a day earlier.

During the incident, Mr. Sathit was waiting for his girlfriend on a motorbike on Walking Street. He was then approached by a group of taxi drivers who tried to chase him away due to misunderstanding that Mr. Sathit worked for a ride-sharing application.

All those involved in the assault should have been obliged to turn up to apologise. The ensuing loss of earnings would have hit them in the pocket and helped them learn some self control.

So, the Gov't did not learn about the value of loss of tourists from the Mall shooting.

And can not seem to realize the value of lost tourists from endless violence by Win drivers in full view of tourists from all nations.

The day is soon coming when all we will hear at the Thai airports are crickets!

Misunderstanding, My Foot  Just Taxi Mafia think they can rule the city.

If they keep driving Lock them up Again.

The taxi mafia's have always been more powerful than the police and the army. In 9 years the army was never able to reign them in. Nobody has ever had the willingness to stand up to these cretin mafias.

So if he was a Grab/Bolt driver, it would have been OK to assault him?

The taxi mafia pay the police protection money; why do you think there are no working taxi-meters in Pattaya?

1,000 taxi drivers, or 1,000 guys waiting to pick up their gf?

Otherwise, how is this relevant to the topic?

What the hell has this got to do with the US?

I have long suspected that this is because these cretinous-vermin don't actually have any actual impact on those in positions to do something about them.

Ergo... those in positions to do something about this don't because they simply can't be bothered.

... those in positions to do something have their own transport and don't care about drink driving etc or have a driver.

The underlying 'scratch the surface' reality here is that these issues don't impact anyone other than the poor or tourists and no one really cares about them....

... that is, until the next embarrassing headline where there will be a 'crack-down' a 'photo-op' an 'announcement by a public figure' and most certainly absolutely no change whatsoever.

Exactly...

Not a completely dissimilar issue occurred in Phuket when a Western lady (who lives there) picked up her visiting friend from a hotel...  the Taxi' blocked the entrance to prevent her from leaving the hotel with her friend because they said the friend should be taking taxi's.

It turns out the lady was the Wife of an Hon Council in Phuket (I forget which Nation)...

For decades the taxi cretins have been getting away with this behavior.
