However for your vote to count you have to give a 1,2,3

eg

3 Yinn

2 Nick Carter

1 GOAT.

Thank you for your understanding.

Doesn't make sense to vote 3 times for the same person wink wink nod nod

Kind of hard to vote for recommended candidates, especially since I have blocked many of them due to the useless drivel in their posts.

1) Yinn

and I didn’t even like her/him !

Yes, “ it” is going by a new username, which one of the recent noobie bogans do you reckon it is ?

No idea, and not really interested.

However, how does one 'go by a new user name'? My son signed up on my PC, but was banned because the IP address and certain PC details were the same as mine so a Mod reckoned it was ME trying to start a duplicate account. How does this all work, anyone?

I did, and was told to use different browsers. Tough when you've only got Chrome or Edge on your PC. But it did work, thanks Mr Mod.

Too technical for me.

KISS is my life motto.

Another reason you won't get my vote; I am not voting for someone who is too thick to add a poll to a post......................

How depressing.  Two of the three members in the OP are fake accounts.

Perhaps a FPOTY thread is more appropriate.

Which ones are fake?

Members who can be suggested for POTY should have:

A long history of informative and intelligent posts.

Without a history of trolling & baiting.

@Goat  Create a poll, if POTY is so important.

Include option 'none of the above'.

Without a POLL, this will only become 200+ pages, back and forth.

I vote for

Bignok

Sirineou

Bob

The last poster i saw race to 10,000 posts was David48 years ago.

Be careful as his demise was soon after.

The old boys who had slow internet and are plugging away in the 20,000's are bitter.

so bignok voted for himself?

shouldn't that be disallowed?

is his mother allowed to register and vote for him too?

She died 10 years ago. Be amazing if she did vote.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

The management has decided that the POTY can proceed this year as a "by the members for the members" with no involvement or participation by staff.

Please do not include any staff members in voting,

Admin/Mods will ensure there is no  skullduggery where possible.

It also needs to be run in the Lounge to stop new sign-ups interfering.

Best of luck with it.

...And may God have mercy on your souls.

There should be an overall best poster.
But there should also be sub-categories.
I would like to nominate a sub-category.

Most Resilient Poster of The Year (MRP)

The guy who can take the most insults and still not quit the forum.
You can insult his political candidate and if the guy lives in Pattaya and you start a thread saying Pattaya sucks, the guy doesn't quit the forum. He just keeps coming back.

He can lose 100 arguments, but he won't quit.

Like honey badgers are really resilient. If a venomous snake bites them, they can sleep it off. They can withstand spears.

Asean Now MRP. Resilient and fearless. Like a honey badger.

David 48 was and is a good guy, IMO he was sincere in posting about "Farmer Girl" , His kids, (I think they were his), and life in the farm.

Moderating was not then what it is today.  He was IMO unfairly attacked as using his kids to gain popularity etc. I dont think such thing would be allowed now days.

I think he was simply interesting talking about his life. But got insulted and left the forum.

I think he is back in Australia to work.

I have been fortunate to have spend close to 12 years in the US with my Thai wife consequently she is close to fluent in English and I can have a meaningful conversation with her , but unfortunately such is not the case of many expats living here.If one  was to ask my what my biggest challenge in Thailand is, I would say the inability to communicate  at a meaningful level.

Even when I go to . lets  say DoHome, I need to communicate what I want to my wife, and hope she understood , not being technically minded. Then she has to communicate her version of understanding to the people in the store .......... You can see where I am going with this. Very frustrating . At a gathering with other Thais I can communicate basic things (like a baby) but not complex thoughts.

We are thinking people , we have ideas, concerns, dreams, humor (some of us LOL)  and like people we would like to communicate these things with those around us, but we cant except at a very rudimentary level

So that's where a forum like this comes in, but to properly function its purpose, there needs to be some understanding.

First, not to take these thing seriously. Communications come at many levels and in many ways.

Body and facial cues , voice inflection, context.  All parts of communication not available in a forum such as this. So it is easy to get the wrong impression.

I am not being Holier than thou, I am also often guilty of jumping to conclusions. So IMO allowances need to be made. No one , and I mean absolutely NO ONE, I have met online in Thailand, was as I imagined them to me.

If I had only one thing to say in this forum  it would be

STOP TAKING EVERYTHING SO SERIOUSLY!! and above all , stop taking yourself so Seriously .

Except of course if you agree with me.    Seriously!!

And Oh,, Good Morning!

TBH, I don't think that this site has enough posters for there to be a POTY competition
