Pattaya — Two thieves stole internet cables, resulting in the disruption of an internet connection for a house in Pattaya and causing great fear for the homeowner.

The victim, known only as Ms. Too, chose to keep her identity confidential as she shared the distressing incident with reporters from The Pattaya News.

According to Ms. Too, two Thai men, aged about 30-40 years old, targeted her residence in the Nongprue sub-district of Banglamung district, Chonburi province. The incident occurred in the early hours of November 11th at 3:35 AM.

When the cables are all tangled up on poles instead of underground, the temptation for easy money is too tempting for thieves, and will likely get worse as costs increase beyond peoples' capacity to afford living costs.

Why did the thieves cut cables?  The local authorities are tidying up the tangle near me & leave yards of it by the road overnight.

With that mess of cables and wires on them poles, how can anyone tell that a cable is missing?...

In the past they harvested mangoes etc.; in having moved into the 21st century it is cable harvesting time....... as long as copper and aluminium fetches premiums in the recycling market ....... where nobody asks about the origin of the ware being offered ;-)

Paranoid or what! She lost her internet connection and is living in fear and is afraid to give her name because of it?

Just one small point.

Internet plus telephone landline is all fibre-optics these days.

Glass is worthless.

Because of this it's possible she was targeted for some reason.

Who else lost their connection?

Lots of old stuff still in use, pre fiber.
