Two luxury villas on the southeast coast of Phuket have been raided as part of a major investigation into illegal online gambling. Part of the investigation showed that the backend of the ‘UFA online gambling network’ had a daily credit inflow of over 72 billion baht (some 2 billion USD) from international websites.

The Phuket Express reports that officers from the Department of Special Investigations in Bangkok raided the villas, in the southern district of Rawai, yesterday afternoon, November 22.

It’s understood the villas are situated on the Nai Harn Beach – Saen Bay road. The raid was carried out after the Phuket Provincial Court issued a search warrant in response to a request from the DSI. At the time of the raid, only housekeepers and other staff were at the properties.
