The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) apprehended a young man advertising dietary supplements of a popular brand on social media, with the products boasting exaggerated benefits. The suspect was charged before being handed over for prosecution today, November 30.

On the previous day, the DSI’s investigative operation team, led by Witthawat Sukhantharot, Director of Trace and News Investigation Centre, captured Kittiphan (surname withheld). He was wanted under arrest warrant number 2795/2563, dated August 30, for Special Case 52/2563.

The charges levelled against Kittiphan were based on the Computer Crime Act 2007. He was accused of dishonestly importing into the computer system distorted or forged data in whole or in part, or false data, likely to damage the public by dissemination or forwarding.

DSI officers stormed the young man’s residence, who had been advertising the dietary supplement brand on social media with unrealistic benefits. Additionally, he was advertising the benefits, quality, or properties of food that were false and without permission, violating the Food Act 1979. He was also accused of deceiving buyers about the origin, condition, quality, or quantity of the item, which was false according to the Penal Code.

Stormed??  A little over the top for what was at stake (especially since the photo seems to suggest they're all having a very boring discussion about the affair)?

Helping police with their inquiries, as they used to say.

Well done DSI. I fully agree with your action👍

Give the kid some points for his entrepreneurial attempt, most youngens these days just bludge off their parents like its an entitlement.

TAT makes false claims all the time, nothing happens to them either?

How about cleaning the false advertissements on Facebook?
Like the advertising of selling Driver Licenses?

A more useful bit of information would be the name of these "dietary supplements" and perhaps a picture or two?

The GF pops these like candy, perhaps I can dissuade her if I knew the brand name....

Thailand: the hub of false dietary supplement and skin conditioner claims.

Huge profits to be made from gullible people.

No

geeeeze   I'm so relieved this guy is off the street so no more harm can come to all the innocent victims who received his pills.

Those dietary supplements can take a real toll on all those mum's, dad's and the youth of today.

It's one criminal taken out.
