Thai government resists Israeli embassy’s call for hostage release in Gaza

A call for the immediate release of all hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, initiated by the Israeli embassy, has met with opposition from the Thai government. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, expressed his disapproval of the move on Tuesday. He has requested a meeting with the Israeli ambassador for a discussion on the issue.

The Thai government is currently in negotiations to secure the release of eight Thai hostages. Parnpree stated that Thailand is keen to avoid causing any misunderstandings among the parties involved in the conflict. “Thailand is friends with every country… Most importantly, Thailand must ensure that all the Thai hostages are safe and can return home. We don’t want any country to use Thailand as a platform to create conflict,” he said.

 

Parnpree emphasised the government’s commitment to the wellbeing of the Thai hostages, and mentioned that they are exploring various avenues to secure their release. He also mentioned that the Thai government is in talks with countries that have offered assistance.

 

Parnpree, along with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, are currently representing Thailand at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. With Qatar’s Prime Minister also in attendance, Parnpree intends to engage in discussions, given Qatar’s previous assistance in securing the release of Thai hostages.

So, calling for the release of hostages, as a point of principle, is to be opposed? Each government of a national held as a hostage should negotiate with the hostage takers, individually? What happened to: we don't negotiate with terrorists?

Ever considered that the Palestinians (and the greater Arab world) failed themselves?

What other people are "refugees" for several generations? Something is rotten.

Like how Lebanon refuses to absord them as their own, again, after several generations.

Thailand is in the process of bargaining its nationals out of being hostages.

 

It knows that Hamas will not acquiesce to an Israeli demand for hostage release (as does Israel) and that Israel will use that as an excuse to redouble its efforts at genocide/ethnic cleansing........that's the Israeli strategy.

 

Netanyahu has already written off the hostages, their loss was calculated as "colateral damage" when Israeli intelligence first discovered the Hamas plan and Israeli planned how to use it..........any Israelis that survive will be a bonus.

 

He knew what was coming and did nothing to forestall it..........what he did was to prepare for the counterattack that would annihilate the Arabs of the Gaza strip.

 

The Hamas plan, and subsequent attack, was a gift as far as he is concerned.

 

There is no principle involved except the principle of continued expansion of Israels borders and the destruction/expulsion of Arabs in that process.............same principle that has applied since 1948.

I understand what Thailand is trying to do, to separate their nationals as neutrals, and it does make sense, but on the other hand they insult Hamas if they think Hamas doesn't realize that already.

Just to keep it right: the Hamas did not cross any border. They live all to gether in ONE state. So after 80 years of oppression and occupation the revolt/attack is not surprising. For every Palestinian who died in the genocide Israel is creating dozens of new "terrorists." At the end Palestinians they want to live in peace and harmony only and raising up their children without terror from Israel hopefully in their own state.🙏

As for 'trafficking Thais to Israel' - that's one of the most stupid and false comments I've heard.   The Thai's who go to Israel, or elsewhere for work, where the pay is 6 times higher than in TH, go voluntarily and are happy to go.    They are able to send money back to their families in Isaan & a number of those that returned to TH after the tragedy of 7th October, have already returned to Israel to continue earning 'good' salaries.

 

Btw, the Israeli ambassador has visited many of the families of their murdered loved-ones and has given 'compensation' to those families - even though they were killed by Hamas and not Israel.

 

I think she's done/doing a great job in very difficult circumstances.

You've obviously just landed from the moon!!!!    'Hamas did not cross any border'????    'They all live together in one state'???    What is that State called then????    Israel has not occupied Gaza since they unilaterally withdrew ALL their forces & civilians from there in 2005!!   Gaza has received billions of $ in international aid since then but their 'elected Govt', Hamas, has used all that money to build tunnels, arm themselves, whilst their leaders live in luxury in Qatar, instead of looking after their own people - the Gazan people, who are just used as pawns in order to influence weak-minded people, into believing that everything is Israel's fault.   

 

So, you think that Hamas, the 'elected' Govt of Gaza, only want peace and the best way of getting that is slaughtering & capturing innocent Israeli women & children, do you????    What a very 'strange' way of trying to get peace!!

Gaza is not Israel.

Some Israelis want it to be after October 7.
