Judging from the many "Confused" emojis that have been showing lately in many posts, i have come to think that many members here

are  bewildered, perplexed and plain Not with it when it comes to  many topics, is this out of spite or just the mental quality of the people

reading posts here, and yeah, i expect tones of those Confused and sad emojis to this post.. don't disappoint me guys...

The problem with the 2 emojis is that it's usually unclear what they mean in any particular case: Does it mean he/she is confused/sad at the content of my message? or at the fact that I said it? Or is it a generalized feeling of sadness & resignation at the state of the world?

It would be much more useful to everyone if the 2 emojis were replaced with signs for "I don't agree' & 'I can't understand a word of what you just said'.

Sorry, I have to disappoint you as I understood what you said.

I am not confused by the fact you used tones instead of tons or tonnes, I guess AI has some way to go when it comes to spellcheckers. Tones are what the Thai language has.

The intellectually challenged on the forum disagree when the title reads:

"It seems that this forum has many members who's intellectually challenged"

Anyway, gave you a free "confused" emoji.

Including the original poster - "members" is a plural form "is" (who's = who is) is singular verb

Thanks for the grammar corrections, I stand corrected.. and yes, too many posters are giving confused emojis

when there's nothing to be confused about so I'm thinking here, are they really that hard on

understanding a simple posts or just trying to annoy and anger other posters?...

  • Popular Post

Maybe so, but I am not worried about it.

But it would be nice if posters proof read what they have typed before hitting Submit.

There we go, someone confused by my first sentence. Which bit was confusing please?

Let's nitpick spelling and grammar to show how smart we are.

I miss the old days of TVF when I could hover over (or click?) the emojis to see who sent them.

Nowadays, there's a few forums where I consider scrunchy faced emojis a badge of honor.

As a personal policy, I only use the "like" emoji.  Not worth the negative energy to choose between the scrunchy faces.

So it should have been 'Who're"..............but that sounds like a Northern street girl . 555

Moderators can still do that, we see who is posting emjoi's and if it looks excessive something will get done about it. One poster, yesterday,  received 15 sad emoji's in quick succession, from the same poster, which is just unreasonable.  Said emoji poster is now, er, resting.

As opposed to starting a thread to show how much smarter one is compared to rest of the knuckle draggers,   The OP deserves all he has received on this one

Although I do agree the use of the confused emoji is a bit pathetic and evidence of laziness

Are you discussing moderation? (whistling emoji)

Why do the emojis not working for me?

You should have either gone with a period after draggers, or not capitalized the t in the following the.

Also, it looks like you have a couple extra spaces.

I ain't bad, but the bad don't mess with me....

yeah, maybe it's also their way of proving they are members! i mean,  because they find the challenge of apprehending the correlation between the subject and the comments too big, they don't  know  what to write and therefore use these emoticons to signal their presence (i've tried to remain polite)

On the TT forum it says the name of the replier. No hovering or clicking needed.

But very rarely anything worth replying to!

Since you are a moderator... My suggestion would be to remove them all, with one exception the +1 green emoticon. Which is useful as nothing needs to be said when on one is in full agreement. Disagreement should always be a bit more elaborate.

The irony!

How can they 'signal their presence' if no-one can see who it is who has put the emoji? (Except the Mods)

It's a policy issue, I can see who's posting them where and when and remove them individually but that's all.

You're ignoring the other option, that is, those emojis are a reflection of their opinion of your posts, not the state of mind of the posters!

"...just the mental quality of the people".

What is the "mental quality" of those who are so bothered by emojis?

Something to be said for that, esp. when you get a lot of likes.

However, most posters are too immature to accept a negative emoji and take it personally. Often leads to emoji stalking--which we still have, but much less. Hence the anonymity is on balance a good thing.

In the OP's case, people just often disagree with his little cynical, stereotypical observations.
