I have an Asus dual screen laptop, but it looks different to this 'Mistme' OEM laptop.  Is this a Chinese copy?

Very pleased with my Asus dual screen, but it wasn't bought off Lazada .... and I think it may be better to go to somewhere like Banana IT and get a genuine Asus on one of their deals.  I did notice some very slim, large (single) IPS screen, i5 Asus laptops in Banana on offer and starting from 9,800 THB.

It's also got a Celeron processor. "Googen" says that they are mai dee 😅

Problem maybe the CPU Celerons

Intel's lowest and slowest  cheapest CPU....... much slower than the Intel i3

depends what you want it for

Buy from manufacturer site or authorized reseller.   Manufacturers site will give you links to resellers if they don't sell direct, ex: LAZ ASUS.   I'm also an ASUS fan.

ASUS Resellers

Acer is garbage. If its working notebook go for Dell or Lenovo. But it won't be 5000 baht as Acer.

The discussion was about Asus rather than Acer.  At work we have large numbers of auditors travelling with their laptops daily, and both Lenovo and Dell had a very poor reliability record, whereas in our experience Asus was the most reliable.

We never tried the cheap Chinese OEM laptops mentooned in the OP as their spec would not meet the IT departments requirements.

Why not go with the THINKPAD from China?

You can get it cheaper by getting it direct from China.

Also, install Linux, is my advice.

The ThinkPad is a very nice machine.

I would buy one....IF.....I were not already buying a new desktop.

You must the very old to call these things laptop. I remember that name from when I was young.

I always recommend ThinkPad. They are simply the best.

https://www.lenovo.com/th/en/d/deals/express/

I purchased my first ThinkPad in 1990, in Florida.

Monochrome screen.

I loved that little red pointer button, which, when playing around with it, sort of felt like a clitoris.

Just saying.....

I have always loved the ThinkPad, originally from IBM.

Thanks. Good advice here.

Btw. MSI laptops but on higher end are good but I only tried gaming ones.

I went Asus to MSI

I think 15-20k laptop 💻 budget may b 25 if it will be really the next thing.

That would be difficult as The ThinkPad line was first developed at the IBM Yamato Facility in Japan, and the first ThinkPads were released in October 1992.

Incorrect.

I had a ThinkPad in 1990.

I recall the date clearly.

The screen was monochrome.

Clinton was elected at that time.

So solly....

According to IBM (link attached below) you could not have bought a ThinkPad in 1990 as ; "Introduced in 1992, the ThinkPad marked a turning point for both the image of IBM and the prospects of mobile computing."

ThinkPad | IBM

I will be gentle and just say that your memory is 100% faulty on this occasion.

As I stated...

You are INCORRECT!, Sir!

I know what I bought in 1990.

I bought a ThinkPad.

It had a red clitoris for a pointer.

My memory of this is SOLID, Sir.

1990 was the date that I left the USA...for the last time.

I would bet you any amount of money on this.

You, Sir, are relying on what you read on the fing internet.

I am relying on sales receipts, Sir!

But, as everyone here knows....

Scots like you never give in.

Or, maybe you are not from Scotland, either?

image.png.e0f77b777ebc01c5627218e88ad46e15.png

IBM calls this the pointing stick, maybe...

But, I call this the IBM clitoris.

I had one before 1992, or...I thought I did.

Perhaps, now that I recall it, I bought my first IBM laptop in 1990 without the clitoris.

And then upgraded to an IBM laptop, with color monitor, WITH the clitoris.

I will need to check my records.

Also, I believe that I am mistaken, here.

So, I apologize to you, Sir!

(I purchased an IBM monochrome display laptop in 1990, just before leaving the USA.  However, I do agree that it did not have a clitoris attached to it. So, then, I am wrong.  You are right, as usual.)

I was wrong!

I did buy an IBM laptop, monochrome display, in 1990.

BUT, it did not have the red clitoris in the middle of the keyboard.

After a couple of years, while in HK, I upgraded to the TinkPad, with clitoris.

And, at that time, I was running OS/2

So your memory is better than IBM's?  You claim to have bought something at a time when the manufacturer clearly states it was not in production!

This is directly from the IBM Heritage web site "

Introduced in 1992, the ThinkPad marked a turning point for both the image of IBM and the prospects of mobile computing. With a simple design evocative of a black cigar box, a signature cursor pointing device, a vivid display and unprecedented processing power, the ThinkPad won favor among a rapidly expanding market of business travelers and became the world’s most iconic notebook computer.

IBM had been producing portable devices since the 1970s, yet for nearly two decades the company failed to achieve much success in the marketplace, partly due to its focus on desktop machines. Meanwhile, in the mid-’80s, an internal task force projected that laptops would outsell desktops by 1996. So in 1992, as part of the drive by CEO John Akers to create a more nimble company, IBM established a business unit called the Personal Computer Company,

I did say earlier that I would be gentle and put your minor slip up down to faulty memory but when you state that you know better than IBM, the manufacturer, then I cannot, not that ever have anyway, trust or believe a single word that you ever print.

PS;  my nationality has nothing to do with this but your ego makes you think that your memory is greater that that of IBM  What a laugh!!

No worries.

I have already admitted that I was mistaken in the date.

If you would just pay more attention to my posts, then...

You would have noticed my retraction.

I should have known better than to question someone from Scotland.

And now....I have...

Egg on my face.

Enjoy it while it lasts...Sir!

As I told you...

1990, IBM, I had it on my lap onboard the NorthWest Airline taking me to Taiwan.

If it is a real IBM you could not possibly have bought it in 1990 as they did not sell ANY laptops of any kind until 1992!
