Hamas official says ceasefire needed to locate hostages in Gaza

Amid ongoing negotiations for a ceasefire in Cairo, a senior Hamas official emphasizes the critical need for a cessation of hostilities to facilitate the search for Israeli hostages held across the Gaza Strip.

Bassem Naim, a prominent Hamas figure, underscores the urgency of a ceasefire agreement, citing the necessity for "enough time and safety" to ascertain the fate of Israeli captives scattered throughout Gaza.

I've been listening to some of the actual statements from that meeting, and the discussion about it on Al Jazeera. Israel wants a condemnation of Iran from the security council, but given the way the Russian spokesman destroyed the western members for their hypocricy ( not condemning  israel for it's attack on Iranian territory ) the israelis can whistle in the wind if they think they will get that. I doubt the Chinese will allow it either.

It's ironic in the extreme that israel is asking the UN to support them, when they have disregarded any UN resolutions they don't like, and America is going to find out that they don't rule the UN after all, LOL.

Great gesture from Germany

Germany to give Holocaust survivors $236 payout to help them cope with October 7 attacks

Germany will provide a one-time payment of $236 (€220) to Holocaust survivors, to help them cope with the impacts of the Hamas-led October 7 attacks in southern Israel.

Berlin will compensate 113,000 Holocaust survivors in Israel in the form of $27 million (€25 million), according to the German finance ministry.

“Many Holocaust survivors were hit particularly hard by the Hamas attacks, whether through the loss of their homes, support systems in the form of care,” a German finance ministry spokeswoman said.

The additional funds were aimed at helping the Holocaust survivors ”as quickly as possible (…) in this frightening and hopeless war situation,” the spokeswoman added.

After, of course, Israel had already attacked Iran at the Iranian embassy in Damascus.

Hypocritical? Of course. However I would expect nothing less of Israel under the current murderous PM, Netanyahu and his equally hand picked, murderous war cabinet.

And if Israel had not attacked the Iranian consulate and murdered the Iranian generals in the first place, this probably would not have happened.

Here is the evil that needs eliminating.

“The Al-Aqsa Flood ( October 7th Massacre) is just the first time and there will be a second, a third, a fourth.” We all saw the evil Hamas is capable of on October 7th. If we don’t stop them, this is what they are promising to do again and again and again.

US accuses Hamas of being ‘obstacle’ to Gaza truce after it rejected Israel’s proposal

Terror group said to give mediators a new draft, claims it can only free 20 ‘humanitarian’ hostages, demands permanent end to war, return to north Gaza for displaced civilians.

“The bottom line is that they have rejected it, and if they did accept it, it would allow for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza of at least six weeks, which would benefit the Palestinian people whom they claim to represent. It would also allow us to continue improvements in the delivery of humanitarian assistance,” said Miller.

“The bottom line is Hamas needs to take that deal, and they need to explain to the world and to the Palestinian people why they aren’t taking it because it is Hamas right now that is the barrier and the obstacle to a ceasefire in Gaza,” he said.

It further demanded “the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, as well as ensuring humanitarian access to address their medical and other humanitarian needs”

IMO the Iranian response was the intended outcome of the attack on the consulate. IMO Netanyahu needed a deflection from Gaza and he has succeeded in that. None of the usual sycophantic leaders are calling for a ceasefire or feeding the Gazans now, are they?

I'm just listening to some US talking head on Al Jazeera excusing everything israel does and condemning Iran for responding to an attack on it's consulate. He even refused to answer a question about the consulate attack, and said they are still "considering" it, LOL. The usual sycophantic statement of unconditional support for israel.

You know, if you were citing most political leaders, I would have pointed out to you that putting lipstick on a pig is par for the course. But given that Benjamin Netanyahu is recognized far and wide for his moral probity and willingness to acknowledge his errors and failures no matter how gravely they might damage his political prospects, it's clear that in this case you have made an excellent point. In opposite world.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich sparked fury and protests on Tuesday after saying that securing the return of the hostages was “not the most important thing” for Israel to worry about at the moment and the government’s primary focus should be destroying Hamas.

It's like they are so arrogant that they think they can say anything and get away with it, forgetting that lots and lots of other countries read or hear what they say and draw conclusions from it. In situations like this, words are important.

It's a democracy. He said it in the context to a hostage deal at any price. At the time he said this public opinion was in agreement with him.

Perhaps you need reminding  of what Hamas leaders say seeing as words are so important to you.

UN chief criticizes strike on Iranian consulate, warns against ‘further escalation’

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned on Tuesday a strike on an Iranian consular annex building in Damascus a day earlier, his spokesman said, after the attack — which Tehran has blamed on Israel — killed at least 13 people, including seven members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

“The secretary-general reaffirms that the principle of the inviolability of diplomatic and consular premises and personnel must be respected in all cases in accordance with international law,” spokesman Stephane Dujarric said.

Guterres called on “all concerned to exercise utmost restraint and avoid further escalation,” his spokesperson added in a statement.

How could they be so blind? It's like someone who ignores the fact that the US has repeatedly reproached Israel for obstructing delivery of aid to the Palestinians in Gaza. Like someone who doesn't challenge the IDF and Cogat when it comes to this issue. I know, I know. I'm creating a fictional character. Nobody could be that naive.
