More grave violations against children were committed in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel than anywhere else in the world last year, according to a UN report due to be published this week.

The report on children and armed conflict, which has been seen by the Guardian, verified more cases of war crimes against children in the occupied territories and Israel than anywhere else, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, Somalia, Nigeria and Sudan.

“Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory presents an unprecedented scale and intensity of grave violations against children,” the report said.

Thousands of lives saved by the dome since Oct 7th

Over 19,000 rockets fired into Israel since start of war, IDF says

More than 19,000 unguided rockets have been launched at Israel since the start of the war in October, the Israeli military says.

The projectiles were mostly fired from the Gaza Strip, although the portion of rocket attacks from Lebanon has been steadily growing in recent months.

Thousands of those rockets have been intercepted by air defenses. The tally only includes projectiles that crossed into Israeli territory. Israel has previously said hundreds or even more rockets launched from Gaza misfired and landed inside the Strip. It also doesn’t include scores of guided anti-tank missiles fired across the Israel-Lebanon border.

GENEVA (12 June 2024) – Israeli authorities are responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the military operations and attacks in Gaza since 7 October 2023, the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, said in a new report today. The Commission also found that Palestinian armed groups are responsible for war crimes committed in Israel.

The Commission’s report – the UN’s first in-depth investigation of the events that took place on and since 7 October 2023 – is based on interviews with victims and witnesses conducted remotely and during a mission to Türkiye and Egypt, thousands of open-source items verified through advanced forensic analysis, hundreds of submissions, satellite imagery and forensic medical reports. Israel obstructed the Commission’s investigations and prevented its access to Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

“It is imperative that all those who have committed crimes be held accountable,” said Navi Pillay, Chair of the Commission. “The only way to stop the recurring cycles of violence, including aggression and retribution by both sides, is to ensure strict adherence to international law.”

Her contribution to the 2001 Durban Conference on racism, the Goldstone report, and her steering of the UN Human Rights Council have been criticized as unjust by The Jerusalem Post.[63] Pillay's claim that Israel was engaged in the "apparent targeting of …children playing", on 23 July 2014, a charge previously denied by IDF spokesmen,[64] has been described by Anne Bayefsky as "incitement to hate".[65] After reviewing the heavy US contribution to the Iron Dome program, Pillay called for better defense for Gaza, stating that "no such protection has been provided to Gazans against the shelling".[66] TheTablet magazine described this statement as a "hilariously delicious absurdity".[67] On 25 July 2014, the United States Congress published a letter addressed to Pillay by over 100 members in which the signatories asserted that the Human Rights Council "cannot be taken seriously as a human rights organisation" over their handling of the 2014 Israel–Gaza conflict.[68] In July 2022 Pillay defended Miloon Kothari, a member of the Permanent United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Israel Palestine conflict who questioned Israel's right to be a UN member state and alluded to a "Jewish lobby controlling social media," which prompted condemnation by Israel, Britain and United States. Pillay claimed that Kothari's comments were taken out of context.[69]

The most senior’ Hezbollah officer killed in IDF strike so far, the terrorists are not happy. Fired 170 rockets so far and not one injury in Israel.....lol

170 rockets fired at north after ‘most senior’ Hezbollah officer killed in IDF strike

Hezbollah launched more than 170 rockets and several more missiles and drones at northern Israel on Wednesday, in what it said was a response to the killing of a senior commander in the terror group by an Israeli airstrike a night earlier.

The barrages marked the largest attack carried out by Hezbollah during ongoing fighting on the Lebanon border, amid the war in the Gaza Strip.

The successive attacks began on Wednesday morning with a barrage of at least 90 rockets fired at several areas in northern Israel, including Tiberias — for the first time amid the war — Safed and Rosh Pina, sending tens of thousands of people to shelters, as Jewish Israelis celebrated the Shavuot holiday.

blown cover to attack the IDF and pop!

A terrorist equipped with an RPG and what looks like a GoPro was identified exiting a tunnel shaft. He was eliminated before he could carry out an attack. Hamas won't be making propaganda videos on this attempted attack.

Eight Israeli soldiers have been killed in a blast that engulfed their armoured vehicle in southern Gaza, in the biggest loss of life for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in a single incident since January.

The deaths came amid continuing fighting around Rafah in which at least 19 Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes.

According to the IDF, the squad of combat engineers were in a convoy of half a dozen armoured vehicles returning from a mission at about 5am on Saturday morning in the Tal al-Sultan area of the southern Gaza city when their vehicle was destroyed.

I'm only surprised it took Hamas so long to start using IEDs. IMO favourite weapon in Iraq after the main war ended, and far as I know uses unexploded bombs for the raw material.

Perhaps israeli bombs are more reliable to explode now, not providing explosives any more.

I'd have thought they would have brought in explosives through the tunnels before October 7, in preparation for the expected response.

You perk up as soon as you hear about IDF getting killed, but you missed that they actually had an excellent day, killed 50 of the Hamas terrorists, not enough mind you, as one their way home Hamas (according to them) fired off an RPG hitting their armoured vehicle killing 8.

RIP IDF

Rather incredible how they can kill so many Palestinians with so few casualties themselves. This is a reason, they are being charged with Genocide.
