SRETTHA Thavisin yesterday (Mar. 20) transferred both National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon and Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, nicknamed Big Joke, to work at the Prime Minister’s Office after lingering charges against the latter and his subordinates of being linked to online gambling websites, Thai Rath newspaper said.

Pol. Gen. Kittirat Panphet was appointed acting National Police Chief.

Pol. Gen. Surachet and five of his subordinates were accused of being involved in the Minnie online gambling network but the National Anti-Corruption Commission decided earlier this month to itself investigate this case and not return it to the police Anti-Corruption Division to do so.

However another case cropped up with Tao Poon police station accusing Pol. Gen Surachet of involvement in BNK Master online gambling network.

Torsak and Surachate transferred

National police chief Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol (L) and his deputy; Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn in a press conference today.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin today ordered the transfer of two top national police generals, Pol Gen Torsak Sukvimol and Pol Gen Surachate Hakparn, to inactive posts at Government House for two months

Deputy national police chief Pol Gen Kitrat Panphet will serve as acting national police chief.

The transfers came after weeks of conflict, during which National Police Chief Torsak and one of his deputies, Surachate, clashed over alleged involvement in online gambling schemes worth millions of Baht.

In an attempt to defuse the widely criticised conflicts, Torsak and Surachate appeared together at a joint press conference today to deny speculation of a high-level conflict within the Royal Thai Police.

They announced that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) will investigate the BNK Master online gambling case.

Inactive posts not prosecution seems to follow the "Big Joke" around like a bad smell. What does he know that saves him I wonder? Still, this is another example of Thai justice like 2,500 dead people and a pardon when his party gets into power by default for another "untouchable".

Second time around for Big Joke isn't it. Last time he was in the Immigration Police, stepped on some toes, and was moved there. Then He got promoted to his current position? So, what promotion next then?

back around 2000ish I read an article in the BKK post, that some toll booth collectors and the manager were skimming money from the toll collections. They all were transferred to inactive position, nobody got fired or asserted for theft....just transferred.

How nice steal from the government and dont lose your job, just sit at a desk all day doing nothing...lol

It’s so nice , get charged and punishment is to get sent to work elsewhere, in the mean time everyone else on same charges goes to jail and gets fined into millions if not hundreds of millions

Should be safe at EJ's office that's Enormous Joke the unelected PM 🤔

Big joke is likely one of the most corrupt officials in the entire nation, over the past decade, and it is likely that he has a billion baht or more stashed away somewhere. You cannot be deputy director of the RTP here without earning ridiculous amounts of money. So in order to defuse the situation the ridiculously corrupt and do nothing PM transfers them directly into his personal supervision. What can one say?

"Big Joke" and "Even Bigger Joke"!

Even as a high ranked police general , he does not only have friends there .

If you consider the RTP a mafia-like structure , he probably angered another ' capo ' .

Or did not pay his share ...

He was warned a few years ago already when his car was shot at ...

Who is his boss ?

You're simply recycling a trope.

Now, how about National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon? If the deputy earns 'ridiculous amounts of money', what does his superior 'earn'?

Another defamer hits the net. "Likely".

You know nothing about the situation other than what you read in English translation so you hide your ignorance with invective.
