The son of a deputy minister was given a suspended jail term, had his driver’s license suspended for six months, was ordered to perform 12 hours of community and fined 4,000 baht after he was found guilty of drunk driving.

The suspect, whose name was not disclosed by the police, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, after he refused to stop at a police checkpoint on Bangkok’s Ratchadapisek Road and rammed his BMW into road barrier early this morning.

At about 3.30am today, police manning a checkpoint at the mouth of Ratchadapisek Soi 31 indicated to a BMW to pull over for a check, but the driver refused to stop and rammed his car into the barrier, after which the police made the arrest.

That's the problem ,they don't take DUI seriously ,suspended sentence ,he should

have been made an example of and been given a prison sentence, the biggest cost

for him will be repairing the vehicle .

Dad is probably the only reason he got such a light sentence

Another disgrace to law enforcement, no doubt somchai the noodle seller would have had the book thrown at him.

Well that was a quick he went to court this morning ?? its only 8am.

Should have shot at him the moment he started trying to flee !!

The least they can do is call him and his creepy father out by name. The officials here are above the law. Any and all laws. Such a sham.

Daddy’s Little Boy.

This is a disgusting act but never the less expected here in Thailand just because daddy's a deputy minister.

Name them both and times his fine by 10,he can afford if he has a big BMW.

To be fair the lad didn't kill anyone so if this his first DYI offense then I think the punishment fits the crime.

Dad will certainly not be impressed and I hope he takes the son behind the rice shed for a tune up.

Exactly. I don't need to post now.

All in a day's work... I suppose.

Lucky he wasn't doing something really serious like vaping 🤔

It's not surprising.
