HUGE BOLT PRICE increase! Why?
i noticed during and still today the huge increase in motorbike taxi fares on BOLT

In some cases the fares have doubled. 
all have gone up 40% at least..

any idea whats going on ? Songkran is finished so why are the prices so high suddenly.. astonishing

Both Bolt & Grab base prices on supply/demand algorithms built in.  Lot of people in town, super hot weather, probably unusually high demand.  We'll see what the prices are for the same trip in July.

Just checked what a Bolt car costs to my normal place.  It's more than double at 265.  That's NYE level pricing.

 

Checked 5 minutes later.  Down to 120.

 

Seems like just a momentary blip to me.

Grab in Bangkok recently quoted me double the fare than LINE man for the same car journey a minute apart.

 

I will keep comparing but Grab looks to be pricing itself out of the market.

Also noticed the price increase in Hua Hin. Use social media to get private drivers offering rides for far cheaper rates all over.

Seems ok in Phuket I just checked, from Rawai to the airport 660 baht, Normal taxi's around here 1000 baht

1-  Try Maxim, you would have to wait a bit longer, but price much cheaper.

 

2-  Try after a few minutes on Bolt, their prices change almost every few minutes!

Yesterday from Central to Jomtien 96 Baht (Bolt Car). That was not more then I paid in November last year.  Maybe there was no cheaper option available? After all there are different Car categories to choose from (or not if that categorie is not around).

I used Bolt to go to Marco's last night at 19:00, the price was around 80 Baht, the same as usual give or take 5 Baht. I always give these underpaid drivers a nice tip, so made it 120 Baht each way.
