Last night and this morning there were the first signs of the car battery not being fully charged. It is maybe 18 months old. IME they don't last long here. 

 

I'm looking at some trickle chargers that can plug into our car port at home.

 

Some are cheap. I usually prefer electrical devices that don't have bells and whistles as bells and whistles can go faulty and just add more headaches to a simple procedure and need.

Hardly tell the "status of your battery". That just indicates static car battery voltage, while the main function is stepping down the 12V to 5V for smartphones.

 

The OP needs to check if the battery's CCA (cold cranking amps) rating has weakened. That's the current needed to turn over the starter motor. Any competent battery shop will possess the gadget for assessing that. The dealership garage will also have it, but will charge more than a battery shop to replace it.

 

TBH, if the OP's battery is 18 months old, just replace it. The current heat wave (and last year's above-average temperatures) have increased the 'kill' rate on car and truck batteries. My bro-in-law just replaced the battery on his Toyota ute and it's only about 2 years old.

Which one can use with a chart like below to gauge the charge-holding condition of the battery. Agreed it won't tell the starting performance but will give advanced warning of deterioration. Will also indicate the charging voltage output of the alternator. 

If one needs a USB converter/charging point it might as well also have a display.

 

Chargers are essential to have and pay for themselves as they bring dead batteries back to life. If I were you I’d just get a decent Noco charger, the genius line or whatever. I know they have them here. Cheaper on Amazon usa. It’s worth it just get it. And I do like the trickle chargers too myself they are cheaper and I believe they are better for the battery.

OP, I have your number "2" from Lazada, but that is only 4amp, you need the 7 amp which costs around 300 bht.

It is very good at revitalising batteries, it has a de-sulphate thingy, gets stuff off the plates. It needs at least 7amps in the battery to work on a dead battery, but you can get over that by first connecting the dead battery to a good battery to transfer some volts. A multi-meter is useful. 

I take the car battery off every 3 months or so and let the smartcharger do its thing. So far, does what it says on the tin....... Recommended...🤗

I've got 2 chargers back in NZ that I got from aliexpress.  They appear very similar to the first two you mentioned. 

 

My first one is for a car battery and it worked really well. I since sold the car but kept the charger as it was a good bit of kit. 

 

The 2nd charger was bought to use on motorcycle lithium ion batteries.  That too did a great job and is in storage with motorcycle in NZ. 

 

I made up a cable with waterproof connectors, which made it easier/quicker to connect for the motorbike.  Simple enough to do for car as well (If wanted/needed). 

 

They are cheap enough.. Go for it.

Though it's not exactly on the topic of trickle chargers, I found one of these battery disconnects to be handy for leaving the pickup for weeks on end.  Living near Asoke, I pulled the truck out only on weekends to get out of town, often leaving it idle for many weeks between jaunts.  It took 10 seconds to disconnect and another 10 seconds to reconnect it, to keep the battery from running down between trips.

All you need is a noco genius 1 for overnight charging. 

Idk I got my noco on some silly lightning deal on Amazon it was like 20 bucks I think. Sometimes the Thai cheap electronics are not bad. I would just get the trickle charger that everyone else buys on lazada if I was going that route. The noco has been super solid and very durable.

I have one of these and it works really well 270b has a 'repair battery mode' and an internal fan, I recently charged a completely dead battery on a car that was so dead the fob would not open the door, (release the lock)  had to get in the passenger side to open the bonnet, no ignition lights at all, in 3 hours it was charged enough to start the car. Unplugged you can check the voltage readout when connected to the battery. Had mine now for 4 yrs.

How often do you use it for a regular 1 year old battery? I'm thinking maybe twice a week for a few hours.

I only use it when the battery is too flat to start a car. which only happens   rarely if something is left turned on, normal car driving say 30min. once a week keeps my batteries ( 2 cars)  charged. Otherwise if your not using the car regularly, if the battery drops to 12v charge it. Trying to start a car with a low battery, i.e. slow crank, will/can ruin the starter motor.  Edit; a car battery should last 3+years.

Yep that's an old school beastie. It'll have a decent transformer in it. 

 

Not sure it does trickle charge tho. 

 

I run an old school "dumb" charger to spook real dead batteries to life then swap em over to my Ctek MXS5.0.

Yep, had one for a few years now, works a treat and costs peanuts.

Using a couple of these for about a year. They seem decent.

If you don't have a voltage tester/voltmeter available, there is a simple test: Park in front of a wall in the dark. Then turn off the engine and switch on the low beam. If the light becomes noticeably darker after a short time, the starter battery is weak.

The one I have for 270 Baht works, the Rest is more Show🤣🤣🤣

Get a dumb charger if possible. Because smart chargers won't even attempt to charge your battery if it is drained too much. And the battery could be perfectly fine. 

 

If you have to get a smart charger , look online for how to trick it into charging a battery like it is supposed to with a 9 volt battery 

I have a Noco Genius 10 I bought from Amazon, it was $105.15 delivered.  My last battery was B4,400 and the one before that was 4,200.

 

That said, if your battery does not seem fully charged in the morning, take it to B-Quik (or some such) and have them load-test it, they'll give you a printed report for free.
