Maybe Bangkok is better for me

..as I got older 60, I have my NEEDS far different from 20 years ago.

"*I want to retire to a safe environment where J can walk safely at night

*I want to be close to public transport

* I want to be close to food markets , shopping places

* House or Condo ,although I prefer  a house with a small garden

*I like going to museums ,bookshops , secondhand shops , cafes but not Starbucks

*I like the gym and have to be close to one

Do people go to musuems weekly? I don't think so. Cross that off the list. So you have gym, cafe and book stores. Any of the largest 5 cities would have that.

Pattaya is like Las Vegas; it's only suitable for a few days. I wonder about the excessive number of old guys sitting at bars by themselves at noon sipping on beer. That seems boring. But to each their own. No matter where one lives in retirement, it's going to be boring unless one has hobbies and fun interests.

In pattaya that usually involves hookers. They aren't here for the gym or temples.

True, which can lose its charm after a while.

Or become very expensive, creating ever longer breaks at the bar.

I look forward to going back to a routine

These old drunken old expats  don't have routines

I watch one old guy every morning sit at that mini mart opposite Arcadia resort with the other drinks he then waddles up to his room in a stupor

Please I don't want to end up with NO routine

Waking up to do the same drinking all day

I honestly believe these guys were NOT alcoholicd before they lived in Pattaya

They are bored with their life's ,no routine, nothing to do etc

Usually these blokes try to find in Thailand, all the things they did not find or get back home. Some end up drunks and it is sad.

Others even when in a couple, can tend to end up as mouthy  braggers, boasting all over,  just because they feel a bit wealthy due to the exchange rate difference. The perfect types to avoid IMHO.

Perhaps you learned your lesson early, before you were too old...

Good motivation to save up much gold and avoid a retirement of sin and vice...

Greener pastures await you, both sober and relaxing, along with champagne wishes & caviar dreams...

On private flights to fantasy island coming your way, in old age....

There was an anomaly in your condo description you kept saying 21m condo, VT2s are 38+?

You want me to end up the same as these people?

No routine, you want that ,I know you do

I can't come back to Pattaya km sorry ,retiring here is definitely no

If you keep on raving on then you might miss your plane. I'm an Aussie but unlike you I don't really care what others do, as long as they don't interfere with me.

A bunch of bars, interesting? Nope, they are all the same. What the place needs is some high culture, more parks, libraries, museums, opera...

Ah, the weed shops you mean?   Not enough?

like i said there's other things to do

Of course, there is plenty to do. People with ambitions and interests always have something to do. However, based on observations, many retired people in Pattaya have little to do.

No idea lol but anyone who claims to be bored in Pattaya has a screw loose

I cannot imagine another place in the world where everything is on tap starting (not with the obvious) but sun sea swmming cheap accomodation whether hotels or condos golf shopping Gyms galore malls galore and  every  other type of activity thats humanly possible and yet I can stilll end with the obvious one as well !

.....and if you dont indulge too much all the rest above are dirt cheap in comparison

How can anyone young or old be bored !
