You spend hours working hard to make your money but keep in mind that you will have to regularly bribe all the local cops and trouble makers.

So at the end of the day, your are working to support whom ?

Only have to bribe if you are doing something illegal? fair enough isn't it

one of the 24 hours sports bars in Pattaya used to pay 5k off season, and 15k high season. Another one who follow the opening rules, and have paper work in order, pays nothing. Two well managed bars and known for their quality live broadcasting of boxing and, rugby and soccer.

I would like to start a bar where us academics can meet and talk intelligent intellectual conversations

yeah, you're intellectual.

it's the easiest business in the world to open up.

no prior knowledge or expertise of any kind is required.

you're basically just preying on bored, horny alcoholics with too much time on their hands.

Being a beer bar owner takes a toll on an healthy mind and body!

If you have mental and health challenges from before, and socially awkward, bar life might not be your thing.

You also need to have very little or no emphasis with girls and their families, as well stay out of other mens business when they are in love with your the girls.

Talk politics and religion and world problems on repeat night after night to make sure you keep your regulars who make your bar look busy.

There's a bar in Bangkok that does this. Owner is great. Not too opinionated but has had same staff since before pandemic. A proper bar, service girlies fun but not for hire (although might be pursuaded 🙂 if they think they might win the golden ticket). Almost always a full house. Proper British boozer (I carefully used British as it is multi national but all are welcome). It is currently up for sale and has been for a while. 9 miillion Thai Baht or likely lower offer. It has been very successeful under current owner. Any potential buyers would have to ask themselves; would they want to be stuck there 6 days per week and do they have the enthusiasm to interact with, and retain, clients?  I know I couldn't commit but do enjoy visiting as a customer.

As wandered aimlessly around the streets of Pattaya last month in my 6 week sentence of boredom ....

I understand why your job title is 'mop boy'.

You have no ambition or incentive.

You are stagnant, not willing to venture out, new opportunities.

This is the one of the reasons.

May I ask if a Geordie is Scottish, I have in all my wisdom in life heard that description but in my life of wisdom never bothered to research that

Nearly... just South of the border in the Newcastle on Tyne area.
