Two Chinese men surrendered to police after a sexual assault at a restaurant in the central province of Prachin Buri on Monday. The Chinese suspects allegedly attempted to end the legal proceedings with 1 million baht.

A Chinese man, whose identity was not disclosed, attacked a 20 year old Thai waiter, Jakkrit, at the restaurant in Prachin Buri province after he intervened when the foreigner tried to sexually assault a female party entertainer in the restaurant’s bathroom.

Another Chinese man came to his friend’s aid and physically assaulted the waiter, forcing him to flee to the safety of a forest behind the restaurant. Jakkrit suffered a wrist injury, resulting in a torn tendon.

Jakkrit’s father told Kom Chad Luek news agency that his son had dreamt of becoming a soldier but the injury to his wrist compelled him to abandon his dream.

The female party entertainer who was the victim of the attempted sexual assault left Prachin Buri for her home province. Her friends urged her to file a complaint against the Chinese suspect but she did not dare to do so because she was afraid the two Chinese men wielded a lot of power in the area.

The two Chinese attackers later turned themselves in at Kabin Buri Police Station on June 12. They were questioned on the second floor of the police station and refused to give an interview to the Thai press.

Channel 8 reported that the two Chinese suspects attempted to pay 1 million baht in compensation to the victim and urged her to drop the legal proceedings but the victim’s father insisted on pursuing the case to the utmost.

Con Chad Luek news agency reported that the two Chinese men face two charges including:

Section 8 of the Act on Firearms, Ammunition, Explosive, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearm: carrying a knife in a public place without permission and necessary. The punishment will be imprisonment for up to five years, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both.

Section 297 of the Criminal Law for assaulting another person resulting in serious injury. The penalty is imprisonment between six months to 10 years and a fine between 10,000 and 200,000 baht.

ORIGINAL STORY: Chinese man stabs Thai waiter for stopping sexual assault (video)

A Chinese man attacked a Thai waiter with a knife at a restaurant in the eastern province of Prachin Buri on Monday, June 10, for intervening in a sexual assault on a female party entertainer.

An assistant chef at the restaurant where the incident took place shared a video of the physical altercation on Facebook yesterday, June 11, with the caption, “Looking for the Chinese man in the black shirt in this video. He attacked my friend with a knife.

The video shows two Chinese men engaged in a heated argument with restaurant staff. The individual wearing a black shirt seizes a knife and assaults the victim, who hastily flees in an attempt to save his life.

The victim, subsequently identified as Jakkrit, a waiter at the establishment, sustained a laceration to his wrist, resulting in a torn tendon.

Jakkrit’s father, 38 year old Kowit, and his girlfriend visited Kabin Buri Police Station yesterday to file a complaint against the Chinese attacker in the black shirt.

According to the victim’s father, the incident took place at about 11pm on that night. Jakkrit saw a female entertainer being sexually assaulted by the Chinese man in a black shirt in the restaurant bathroom.

The woman frantically waved her hands, signalling for assistance from other staff members. Jakkrit and another waiter promptly rushed to aid her, prompting the Chinese man to retreat to his seat. However, the altercation escalated when the man retrieved a knife from his car. He viciously attacked Jakkrit, while his companion in the white shirt also assaulted the victim physically.

In fear for his safety, Jakkrit reportedly sought refuge in a forest behind the restaurant until the two assailants departed in separate vehicles.

Kowit vowed to pursue justice for his son, who fell victim to an unprovoked attack. Despite managing to escape without retaliating, his son was relentlessly pursued by the Chinese assailants, who made attempts on his life. Jakkrit narrowly avoided a potentially fatal stabbing by fleeing the scene just in time.

Officers have not yet provided an update on the case.

I also hope that Kowit does not 'disappear'.

High time these minimal punishments were increased to deal with the severity of the crime.  Why not a death sentence> let the scum wielding deadly weapons know what will happen to them if they go ahead with their criminal acts. Don't do it, no death sentence!

Yes, totally agree. These guys thought they could drag a female into a toilet (to maybe rape her) then attack and slash a man for trying to protect her. Then come back thinking they could just buy them off. Like you say hope he sticks to his guns. Plus hope the girl presses charges, too.

Police are licking their lips. First offer of 1M suggests they’re willing to go higher if pushed. Most likely the police advised the family to reject it.

Sexual assault = attempted rape or rape. To think that they can rape in open public in Thailand and get away with it... what a reputation Thailand and probably Thai women .. has in the eyes of the Chinese hooligans.

If they are release then it will be true that every women in Thailand can either be bought and taken by force or worse - raped and compensate later.

Sad.

Sounds like these Chinese are gang/mafia, and likely do weild influence in the area. Hopefully they do get prison time and deportation as this kind of scum is exactly who Thailand needs to kick out. Attempted rape, then attempted murder. In any normal country they'd be behind bars already and stay there for many many years. You can't buy yourself off an attempted murder case, and attempted rape with witnesses should be prosecuted regardless of whether the victim presses charges or not (she won't - she's too scared). Kudos to the father for pressing forward but he better watch his back as it's almost guaranteed a group of other Chinese will pay him a visit in the future.

It’s high time that the Thai authorities stop letting the Chinese citizens get away with their crimes and behavior, or cover it up, just so they can keep getting more tourists. Quality not quantity has long gone. Sad that they can’t see it. 🙈🙉🙊

Hm,...He was willing top pay one million Thb to the victim !?!? How much do you think he is willing to pay for not going to the Monkey house !?!? these guys apparently are connected and rich !!

Here in Thailand, I believe the police will end up getting the major amount through 1 million. The police are probably taking out. They can get two or more. TIT.

Becoming  a female "  party entertainer " is the worst job a woman can get .

Being attractive to drunks will lead to aggression and violence .

Better work in a bar or advertise on social media sites ...

Chinese criminals wanting to buy their way out ... they did not succeed this time ...

This is not the kind of people Thailand wants .

Best to revoke their Visas and blacklist them .

If you pay me 1 mil baht you can sexually assault me too.

what a coarse fellow.

Chinese scum. Boot them out and their "Family" can administer justice.

Smash every bone in their hands so they can no longer fire a gun or wield weapons of any sort in the future.

Have they been remanded or their passports confiscated?

If they are indeed gangsters, they'll probably just run back to China and others will take their place in Thailand.

Chinese gangsters acting with impunity. I hope they don't buy their way out of this... It's bad enough this fifth gets in without them also trying to payoff people.

Sad.

To Chinese society, in China, ladies working in the entertainment industry are no better than ladies of the night. Working environment may be different but the final result is the same.

chinese punters thought that money can buy everything suggesting their morals are questionable.
