Thailand Refuses To Sign Document Of The Swiss 'Peace' Summit

A number of posters seem to have forgotten how things arrived at the current situation.

 

Three years ago , Russia and Ukraine were at peace. There were no sanctions. Russians and Ukrainians could cross the border to visit relatives. 

Sweden and Finland were continuing in their long held neutrality. Thousands of Russians had not moved to Phuket fleeing war.

 

Then Putin had the idea for his two week special  miltary operation to clean out Nazis ??? His close circle of yes men agreed with his idea if they wanted to stay in favor.  If , back then a Russian refered to this as a war they could be arrested. It was not war it was just a two week thing. Russian troops tried to secure an airport at Kiev. Russian armour got close to Kiev.

 

After that , everything went wrong for Putin and his two week military operation drags on.  There are many posters here who believe Putins excuse and think Ukrainians should not have resisted him but thrown flowers in front of his invading troops.

 

Putin apologists can spin things any way they wish but the hard FACT is that from peaceable neighbors Russians and Ukrainians are dying in thousands merely to gratify the ambitions of a narcissist who cares nothing for human life or the well being of his citizens.

 

As for Thailand , just doing what it does best. Staying neutral and sitting on the fence. Works for them.

Thailand couldn’t sign, they have applied for BRICS membership, signing the piece accord would most likely have resulted in their application being refused.

These are obviously Russian members and why would we be surprised. They are everywhere in Thailand now. Mostly because they are no longer welcome in most of their favored playgrounds.

 

And many speak excellent English. My condo is now at least 50% Russian.

That sham was not a "peace conference" or even a "peace negotiations."  A peace conference is not unilateral action.  They include both (or all) aggrieved parties.  What the Western hate-fest in Switzerland accomplished was to show virtually all non-aligned nations in the world what a US-led "rules based international order" has in store for them (we make the rules; you follow the rules, and "oh by the way, we're not even going to invite you to participate, but fail to follow the rule and you'll be isolated and punished).

So the countries who didn't sign?  They see the hypocrisy.  They are also probably looking very closely at becoming members of the BRICS-led alliance of independent nations who want to follow an international law-based international order and are probably pretty worried about having a Western-led militarized, global NATO show up on their doorsteps in the future to threaten them into compliance.  And if they push back?  Then like Russia (and soon China and Iran and DPRK and Venezuela, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Niger, heck most of Africa and Latin America and all the "crappy little countries" outlined in the Ledeen Doctrine) they will be accused of "unprovoked aggression" if they dare to push-back on Western militaries sitting on their borders, setting up blockades, aiming conventional and WMD at them, and issuing sanctions. 

Yeah - "unprovoked."  It's time to create an internationally accepted definition of "unprovoked," as opposed to a Western, unilateral definition of the word.  The rest of the world which values its sovereignty, such as Thailand, are starting to wake up, to point out Western aggression and provocations, and to begin making plans to protect their sovereignty by aligning with the BRICS-led organization of independent, sovereign nations.  "United we stand, divided we fall."

I suspect you're mostly/completely wrong.

There are plenty of westerners that are either anti-war, forever wars, weary of the fake narratives, lack of facts, the seemingly lack of the West taking any responsibility, and are simply not going along.  That does not make them Russians or pro-Putin, Putin apologists, pro-dictator, fascists or whatever smears get tossed around.

This war has been brewing for decades but the western news mostly wants you to believe Putin woke up one day and decided to invade Ukraine.  It's much more complicated than those "talking points".

This is why we are here.

 You need to go look at the map - Russia has been very restrained so far and plods along to avoid casualties - Ukraine at 500,000, Russia at 150,000, I think. Watch this space.
