Maybe they could start by telling the Indians to use the sidewalks instead of walking down the street and blocking traffic.

They should also teach the Indians to eat with a fork and knife, not their bare hands...

The Arabs are in your mind, I mentioned people from India who like to eat with their hands. Actually I was just joking as it really doesn't bother me.

After that, please come up to Issan and teach my wife's family that.

Well, let be honest... It's its old skin that has made it the destination it is today (#chithole). The only hope is to keep forcing all the trash ("quality tourist") into as limited an area an possible. Phuket and Pattaya are already insufferable. Don't let what happen their ruin the result of the country 🙏

So very true and they will not get out of the way if you beep at them. I guess this is the way they behave in India so they continue to do it in Thailand.

The only thing you need to know about the average traveler coming to Pattaya:

Every hotel in Pattaya demands a cash deposit in case the guest steals something from the room.

"Every hotel in Pattaya demands a cash deposit in case the guest steals something from the room". Hotels and guesthouses have to get payment up front otherwise some guests will just do a fly by night, and that applies anywhere. I have stayed in lots of hotels and guesthouses in Pattaya and I don't ever remember paying any more than the agreed price up front for the nights you are staying.

"Pattaya, known for its bustling nightlife, is apparently trying to shed its old skin and emerge as a beacon of transformation in Southeast Asia"

Yawn! (Copy & Paste)

"Issues like homelessness and begging underscore the need for ongoing social and urban development efforts to ensure Pattaya remains inclusive and attractive to all."

What about harassment by ladyboys- or "transgender persons"?

How many time do we see articles like:- "Assault........"Ladyboy...........Indian............Gold Necklace..........Theft..........."

They need to be rounded up and shipped off to Rwanda! 🙂

Or more treatment like the one yesterday/day before got that picked on the wrong couple of guys to harass!

Pattaya to become Southeast Asia’s premier destination

Sure I've heard that before somewhere??????????

Mind you, they have to do something with it - as there's no sex for sale there anymore.

There is no sex industry - didn't you hear. They said it so its true.

Pattaya-5-Pattaya-evolving-into-a-premier-global-tourism-destination-pic-21.jpg

Pattaya, known for its bustling nightlife, is apparently trying to shed its old skin and emerge as a beacon of transformation in Southeast Asia. Recent years have witnessed a remarkable overhaul aimed at elevating visitor experiences and community living standards.

Key infrastructure upgrades are at the heart of this makeover. Underground installations of electrical and communication cables, revamped road surfaces, and improved water drainage systems not only enhance functionality but also add to the city’s aesthetic allure and cleanliness.

Central to this transformation is the rejuvenation of Pattaya Beach, a focal point of the city’s charm. Ongoing projects have breathed new life into its shores, drawing praise from residents and tourists for its revitalised beauty.

However, amidst the progress, challenges loom large. Issues like homelessness and begging underscore the need for ongoing social and urban development efforts to ensure Pattaya remains inclusive and attractive to all.

Looking ahead, ambitious plans are in motion to introduce more green spaces and enhance transportation infrastructure. Proposals include expanding tree cover along Pattaya Beach for shade and introducing electric buses to improve urban mobility and sustainability, reported Pattaya Mail.

Certainly this article cant be taken seriously as the changes needed to make it a premiere destination for anything other than the sex trade have little to do with burying electrical cables, fixing roads and sidewalks and cleanng the beach.

Come to Pattaya, stay at a 5 star resort with luxurious pools and waterslides for the kids. Spend a little time at the beach, go to one of the Malls for shopping and enjoy a good meal at the many restaurants. Top notch waterslides, go cart tracks, ferry out to Koh Larn.

I can see Pattaya trying to promote itself.

They only have to look at Sihanoukville, Cambodia.

Once a great place, affordable bars, 5+ beaches, restaurants and a few casinos.

Then they let Chinese investment in, Bars closed, Hotels unaffordable, Restaurants now Chinese type,

Now look at Sihanoukville, deserted, no tourists, half built casinos, filthy beaches, NO INCOME for Cambodia, ruined!

That's what may happen to Pattaya!

Unbelievable that anyone actually makes that statement.

The challenge for Pattaya has little to do with the beach it is already nice as long as the sand stays.

The challenge is what does it have for a family.

It is the same problem that THAILAND itself has.  There is nothing for families to do.  There are no attractions for kids.

If they want to make it family friendly, they need to have attractions for the family. The best comparison I can think of is Coney Island, where there are rides and things for kids to do.

What they need to do is create a Pattaya that Thais want to go to.  Let's face it: they show up when there is a big event, but you need to have activities that will attract the Thai families.

Beleive it or not the same thing that Thai families want is the same as most Tourist families want.

I heard a rumour that they are also going to install bungie cords on Hotel balconies, free.

You better tell Thais to eat with knife and fork then.
