No, that is not correct:

a. If it is BY CHOICE and intentional, and the drug taker knows what he is taking, and chooses to take it, and is NOT intending to off himself, but still dies because he has ingested too much, then....

This would be an "overdose".

b.  But, if the deceased never intended to take any given drug, but somehow happened to ingest a drug, and that drug killed him, then this would be a poisoning.  It could be an unintentional poisoning.  Or, it could be an intentional poisoning committed by another party, which would then be considered murder by poison.

c.  Then, in the US:  If a drug seller sells a drug (if it is FENTANYL) to a user, and if the seller knowingly misrepresents the type of drug he is providing, and the user ingests that drug, and consequently dies of that drug, then this is considered a poisoning, and this is also considered murder, first degree, in some states in the US.  At least, this is my understanding.

d.  In this case, it is still probably:  Intoxication by Substance to be determined...

So now, from UPI, we see mentioned a trace of "WHITE POWDER" residue around the tea/coffee cups....

https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2024/07/16/Thailand-Bangkok-poison-six-dead-Grand-Hyatt-Thiti-Saengsawang-Srettha-Thavisin/1341721155627/

Also, if a white powder, then this could be consistent with Fentanyl.

If it were a cultist suicide, as has been suggested, why would anyone choose to ingest CN, which is painful.

It would be more logical to take Fentanyl, which is just as lethal, but probably completely painless.

How could it be another party that did the poisoning, if there was this white powder visible on/around the cups?

Would you drink tea from a cup with white powder residue easily visible?

And, again, why the container of honey?

Obviously not suicide, back to the drawing board

At 1:55 PM, Monday, someone in the "suite" placed an order for Room Service (food).

This is a more informative BBC video just released...

Concerning the type of tea they may have been drinking, in this video, one can see a metal box/tin of loose tea, similar to traditional packaging of Chinese tea.

Now, IF, this is Chinese tea, everybody KNOWS that no Asian would ever add any honey or sugar or powdered sugar to Chinese tea.

Sure, maybe in Thailand, there are those that add milk and sugar to tea.

But, not in China, and probably also not in Vietnam, typically.

So the open container of honey is strange.

And, the white powder is not powdered sugar, of course.

Such a fast acting poison, and it must have been painless, too.

Fentanyl is still the best choice, it seems.

Fentanyl intoxication does cause much foaming at the mouth, as well.

A very intriguing case, a post mortem hopefully will put an end to all of the 'maybe this or maybe that'...

So many recent murders, kidnapping, rapes…. All within a month. And mostly involving foreigners to Thailand… open door policies do carry massive consequences…

Maybe ... but at the Grand Hyatt you'd think the typical guests would be more likely to call room service than whip out a charcoal BBQ.

Police on TV news saying they had all checked out of their rooms, but kept one room for the whole group .... perhaps to rest before a flight.

Ah, that makes sense. Thanks.

that is correct.  i remember one hotel in chiang mai or thereabouts had several of these deaths over a period of time.  a couple of bodies were handed out the back window so people wouldn't know there was a problem.  and then there were the two sisters who died the same way in a hotel in southern thailand.

All six in one room? No mention of whether it was a suite or apartment or adjoing rooms. Tragic ending.

One of the rooms was on a different floor.

The room in the photos is one of the bungalows near the pool.

Could be a case of mass suicide.  Either they are religious nuts or maybe money issues.  Or someone poisoned them.  Who knows.  Let’s see what the authorities say.  Surprised PM had to talk about the effect on tourism.  Always about money for these guys.

American citizenship means "real Americans" 🥴

Probably with two nationalities. Just for fun, give me your immediate mental image when someone says American,.....correct, small build, black hair, mandel eyes.

It's like, give me a mental image when someone says British,.....correct, an Islamist with dark complexion, wearing a bed sheet and sandals.

How about a mental image of 'woke',.....correct, desperate, hypocritical, doesn't get any.

All kind of poison would be physically easy to see. Poisoning is not a nice death that would seem unmarked in any way.

Carbon monoxide and dioxides leave no traces thow.

yes it does..visible signs..the skin is quite pink in colour and petechial haemorrhages in the soft mucosa of the eyes..a full Toxicology Report can take up to 6 weeks to complete.

You really need to check your facts before making sweeping statements!

Yes, and we shouldn't jump to conclusions. Right now the PM has requested the Police to ascertain they didn't jump of a balcony.

Boat people - in a Grand Hyatt hotel?

I know many wealthy Vietnamese who were boat people and became successful.  Also, at the ages given, they would more likely be children if boat people.

🙄 Don't get that. If settled in, surely it'd be in bedrooms and bureaus?

Tragic.

Just because they found their luggage does not mean it was full of clothes and sundry. When you go to Walmart to buy a new Piece of luggage do you expect it to be full of clothes and such?
