We met and live in Thailand. We do have a house over there, and as we married in the UK, our marriage is not technically recognised in Laos, but we've never had issues going back there.

When provided with free government money and fake jobs, they won't need a husband. Never get married in a country that forces you to endow her with all your worldly goods plus 19 years of child support, enforced by the courts.
