Pattaya boosts safety with new training for 7-Eleven staff

Pattaya Tourist Police, in a joint effort with government and private sector partners, recently organised an extensive training programme for guards and employees of 7-Eleven stores. This initiative is designed to bolster safety measures and enhance the overall experience for tourists visiting the popular convenience stores, particularly those situated around Walking Street.

Participants in the training programme acquired vital skills in several key areas. These included mastering security strategies, responding efficiently to incidents, performing correct CPR procedures, and delivering top-notch hospitality. By equipping both security staff and 7-Eleven employees with these competencies, the project aims to mitigate incidents, boost tourist confidence, and uphold international safety standards.

The training also emphasised de-escalation techniques for handling intoxicated or disruptive tourists, along with instructions on promptly contacting the police if such situations arise, reported Pattaya News.

Don't 7-11 staff have enough to do as it is?

Is there something wrong with a company that takes steps to enhance the health and safety of its staff and its customers?

I would call that commendable.

yeah it's all well and good - maybe staff can give CPR whilst making a slurpee, whilst watching the frankfurters, whilst restocking the shelves, whilst.....after all, they are on such high salaries.

So ganging up on them and beating them to a pulp is not working out?

Must be in a safe area.. no security at any of the local 7-11's, my nearest one always greets every customer as the enter the store.

Great service...

Is it their job to engage drunken tourists? Some nationalities can become psychotically violent when intoxicated.

No but trying to de-escalate can help with their safety, I thought that was pretty obvious...........:coffee1:

risk your life for the meager 400 baht a day?

Or have no Job ?

Stop people running in and grabing a knife from behind the counter, to go and stab people, Like some little girl staff is going to stop that happening,

No, it is not obvious, it should not be made their RESPOSIBILITY to intervene. Drunks may not respond to what was taught in the 'safety' training. There is a force called the Police that has that responsibility. It is their job to call them. I am not saying they can't intervene, I am saying they should not be made to feel it is their responsibility to intervene. Perhaps you have no experience of how psychotic some people can become when drunk. Pattaya bars employ several adult men to handle security and deal with drunks.

I'd be more than happy if they were issued pepper spray and riot sticks and used them regularly on the small lumps of butter you frequently see in there.

But not in your case, out of your concern for their other tasks. You might hang a little "no CPR, do not resuscitate" card on your shirt just before entering. They, and no doubt others, will surely thank your remains.
