Thai fruit as healthy as berries

Featured Replies

Blueberries, blackberries (what's that anyway), strawberries ... all so very healthy.

Unfortunately, not tropical fruit.

น้อยหน่า, mango, banana ... so delicious,  but better don't look up the glycemic index.

Any substitute for berries in Thailand?

Rambutan, Mangosteen?

Tops carry berries but you might have to take out a loan to buy them. Looking for a low glycemic index replacement , melons and cantaloupe.

Goji berries

From China. I prefer locally sourced poisons, like cyanide.

But, yes, I used to eat them,  and I am still alive.

And Goji are not food, they are considered a supplement.

I am looking for Thai fruit as healthy as berries.

Makro always carries frozen berries. They're quite good, I eat them daily. AND they won't break the bank.

Coconut, ecological bananas, mango, jack fruits, most of them is healthy, you make the pick, but expensive to buy ecological.

We grow our own fruits

They grow alot of dates and avocados now in Thailand.

I like a mixed berry smoothie but you need to add sugar otherwise it will taste very average, banana smoothie no need for added sugar.

These are my current favourite fruit, add a little salt

The two books by Dr. William Li (harvard heart specialist and researcher explains in detail the exact nutrients/vitamins, whatever and what disease that particular food will possibly cure or prevent by what nutrient and how much is needed/ and how often - health drinks too included.  These two books definitely changed my eating habits which I thought were already healthy but now that I have changed my diet, I feel even better every day.

I notice since his books came out, that you tube "experts" on nutrition and diets increase daily!  VIllamart has the most varied berries in my opinion.

Same with me, I cycle so much I have trouble not losing weight.

Doesn't matter how much I eat or drink.

Yep and it's fat that causes insulin resistance rather than sugar but people have been brainwashed

I want to eat food to reach my daily intake of calories, not sugar.

I buy mulberries at the local markets. I find them fine and like them they are not expensive.

The leaves from the mulberry bush is what the silk worms eat and some people also use the leaves for tea.

Try the Thai strawberries - widely available during the Chiang Mai/Samoeng strawberry season December - February.

And just as tasty as the western variety, cheaper too.
