Many expats you meet in Thailand you would not associate with back in your home country. Choose carefully who you wish to chat with.

Are there any expat events or get-togethers? I'm really tired of only seeing Thai faces, especially since they can't speak English and I don't know Thai.

Best ways to meet other expats? I recommend using caution, extreme caution. Your best bet is sporting activities you can go around Thailand jogging or running 5K/10K, golf, tennis, table tennis, but prob not pool or darts.

So yes, you can make friends with expats but be careful also a lot of these Brits are skint so watch your back.

All my friends that I used to have are no longer friends, since they all use Line which I do not want, they are too tight to make a phone call, they never drop by anymore, either. But if they need help with anything the first person they turn to is my wife to sort out any Thai problems they have, she now no longer want's to help them, she has her shop to run, not run about sorting sh * t out for them.

Maybe you are in the wrong country, it is Thailand, you are going to see Thai faces.

Maybe Thailand is not for you.

Why don't you try Vietnam, lots of Vietnamese faces, I never saw a Thai face when I was there.

They also like to see your Dong......the bigger the better.....:cheesy:

I was always quite surprised on the 'well to do professional expats' I bumped into in a club in Bangkok, Sukhumvit 7/1- 'Eden' I think it was called. Not sure why, but they were always rather shy when recognised.

That club was a place to socialize with Thais.

But thinking of it... OP is tired of "Thai faces",  maybe that club or something similar would be a solution.

It was nothing of the sort, there was no socialising with Thais or anyone else. The only socialising was with the over priced and over the hill prostitutes who were picked as soon as you went in, and who got you out as soon as possible.

Why search all over?

Why not organise a group among AN members for a regular get-together?

The best place to find "Farangs", is in a bar! That is the place many ends up after a few years in Thailand. But look up a page called "Thai Visa". Many forums around Thailand to find there.

I am sure if you Google it, there are Finnish, Hungarian and many other ex-pat sites, who do not speak English.

Brothel not a club. The criminal owner Marc who people used to grovel to and praise for his services as a pimp was shot and killed 2 years ago this April. Finding himself terminally ill he thought he would go out and murder his ex and business partner. Stupidly he shot and killed her first, then although shot the other French guy got the gun off him and shot Marc. Pity I was hoping to see him spend the rest of his life in prison. He was also a convicted drug dealer having spent time in a Japanese prison, and a blackmailer. This is the sort that many other foreigners actually looked up to.

Isn't this defamation of poor old Marc?

Maybe his estate will sue you.

Pretty sure you can't defame a dead person.....I think they have to show a financial loss....his estate will have been divided by now.

I guess humor is not one of your strong points.

Anyway, thanks for the history lesson.

Did we bump into each other there at some point? You seem remarkably knowledgeable about the place.

Were you a left of right of the yellow line type of guy?
