The opposition People's Party disagrees with the Constitution Court's decision to remove Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin from office. Srettha was dismissed for "gross ethical misconduct," tied to his appointment of Phichit Chuenban as Prime Minister's office minister.

The People's Party does support the idea of politicians maintaining integrity and high ethical standards in office. However, party member Parit Wacharasindhu argues that different people have diverse views on ethical issues. According to Parit, ethical misconduct charges should involve clear corruption or irregularity that already violates a law. Any accusations of ethical nature that do not involve law breaking should be judged by the public, he emphasized.

Parit expressed concern regarding the power held by independent organizations like the Constitution Court. He explained his belief that these groups often exercise too much discretion in interpreting ethical standards. Parit suggested that these independent agencies are sometimes used politically, to eliminate rivals or dismiss specific office holders, as he believes was the case for the former Prime Minister, Thavisin.

Parit concluded that it is vital to reassess the existing constitution and review the extent of power granted to independent organisations. He added that his party will continue to push for a revision or complete redrafting of the constitution.

I want the new party to succeed in the next election, but disagree with this statement.

Srettha screwed himself after trying to hire a bent lawyer.

All of this was orchestrated by Thaksin. Just prior to the placement of the convict, Srettha met with Thaksin. As the case drew more near to being decided Srettha was nonchalant about it seemingly uncaring if he will be kicked out of office. Now, his buddy Thaksin has had his meeting with the PTP and everyone emerged ready to place his daughter in the PM position. Thaksin has been making a lot of private meetings with the players in this game. Anutin has already voiced his approval as well to have Thaksins daughter as PM.  Srettha was a patsy placed in office until all the cards were aligned and everyone paid off.

Yes, very noble, they are in for another beating. For goodness sake doesn't PP have a political advisor, keep your mouths shut about rewriting the constitution until you are in power with a large majority.....study Thaksin to see how it's done.

I wouldn't call the CC or the EC independent. They are legal arms of the military royalist establishment.

Ok they did their test, if this party comes to power nothing will change in Thailand, what a bunch of nobodies.

Good luck with that. It will be like taking the gun from an armed mugger with his finger on the trigger pointing it at your head.

Independent? You sure about that?

On one side , in Thailand , we have the old dinosaurs who control the country through well established corruption and nepotism , and that for ages already .

On the other side we have the young , who are all well informed by now what is going on and want change for a better , more open and fair democracy ...

The old oppress the young by any means ( CC ) and act against the interest of the general thai population .

One can only hope that the old will be defeated or just become extinct ... as soon as possible .

Thailand is sooo scared about it's reputation ( face ) , but does not realize that it is ruining exactly that by it's actions .

Hypocrisy and double standard as always . All fake .

Exactly. Srettha was too weak to stand up to Thaksin and refuse to appoint Pichet. Now both Thaksin and Srettha suffer the consequences. Make your own bed and lie in it.

I agree, they're called independent, but very far from it.
