In a clearer video from a different angle it was clear to see that he struck her a number of times on the head. He was out of control.

For goodness sake. He had his hand open and kind of pushed against her head 3 maybe 4 times. He’s a doddery old man in his 80’s. I doubt she felt anything.

Whats frightening is not this “assault”, it’s that a man who is well past mental competency is still in a position of some, any, power.

Usually a nice "wai" and a few words of apology and all is forgiven and forgotten.

You are delusional if you think an elite like Prawit is going to wai or apologize to a commoner. SHE might have to do so to him, depends how much pressure is exerted on her boss.

The female reporter works for PBS news. PBS has reported that Khun Prawit has called the reporter at the same day to explain and talk with her. At least he tried to diffuse the situation.

????????

Take a good look. He pushes her head away with an open palm. There was no hit or strike or punch.

He’s a jerk, but there’s no point making up what happened just to appease the masters who make up click bait headlines. Look at the video and make up your own mind.

Despite the significance of the meeting, Prawit chose not to attend and instead opted to meet Thai athletes who just returned from the Paris Olympics.

He didn't strike me as a sportsman, more as a watchman.

??????

By maybe apologising in private hence saving him the inconvenience of possible future bad publicity? And maybe a few thousand baht on offer - but maybe that's what was discussed in order to "diffuse "the situation! 🙂

When spokespeople for ASEAN (eg Kishore Mahbubani) defend the peaceful record SE Asian diplomacy as compared to western aggression, this is just one of many useful retorts: western politicians don't hit people for asking provocative questions.

This serves to remind those who paint everything ASEAN as rose-tinted, compared to western standards, they need to tread very carefully, and be called out for such shameful behaviour.

Silly old fool, seems he was a wee bit pissed off on hearing the news, he wanted the job. Of course he will never spend any time inside.

I see the punishment could be jailtime OR a mind blowing 4 thousand Baht fine.

Touching someone's head or even slapping someone in the face is a big insult in Thailand. The journalists should suing him for his money, that is what will hurt him the most.

What? Maximum 4K Baht!!!!!

That's about all he would be capable of slapping females.

I hope it has been plastered on the National papers ? That is the best punishment. Even tapping someone on the head  should not be acceptable!  The look of hatred on his face was enough for me.

It's better than being found at the bottom of the Mekong with a stomach full of concrete, or erased from the face of the Earth like many others who have spoken against this countries leaders.

Even more violent you mean... precisely.
