A team of Tourist Police and officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) jointly inspected Walking Street in South Pattaya on the night of September 1st, to bolster tourist’s confidence, as the high season approaches.

The inspection, which took place around 7:30 PM, was led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Panurat Lakboon, Secretary-General of the ONCB, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phueak-am, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau. The officers began the patrol at the entrance of Walking Street and were joined by Mr. Phichanon Thawisuk, Banglamung Deputy District Chief, Pattaya Police, and several entertainment venue operators.

Following the observation, the officers greeted 100 security personnel from various venues along Walking Street. These security workers are tasked with monitoring and preventing any violence among both domestic and international tourists.

None, but lots of girls that will give you directions to any hotel

All the fights are on soi 6!

Wow. So there will be no crime or drugs on Walking Street now.

My confidence is utterly bolstered.

So there are 100 non-police ready to jump in to beat down a foreigner if there is any type of misunderstanding in a bar or with a worker in the street. Scary thought. I suspect there will soon be more incidents involving beatings of foreigners. Because the police are never near when there is a problem.

Not sure, but at least no tourists were filled in by the door staff.

 'Monitoring and preventing  any violence'?

Inclined to say getting involved and showing how it really should be done....

That would deter me, from going out.
