The Criminal Investigation Division of Immigration Police (ID) arrested Mr. Mohamed (last name withheld), age 28, Mr. Ashan (last name withheld), age 26, and Mr. Abdullah, age 19, all from the Maldives.

 

They were accused of overstaying their visas. They were taken to the Investigative Division of the Investigation Unit for legal proceedings. The arrests took place at a condominium on Ramkhamhaeng Road, Huamark Subdistrict, Bangkapi District, Bangkok.

Details of the Arrest:

 

Through investigations, the police found that these three Maldivian nationals were residing at a condominium on Ramkhamhaeng Road, Huamark and exhibited suspicious behavior.

 

The officers then observed the area and saw a foreigner acting suspiciously around the condominium. They identified themselves and requested to see his passport.

The foreigner identified as Mr. Mohamed could not provide his passport, claiming it was in his room. He led the officers to his room, where they found Mr. Ashan and Mr. Abdullah, who were also acting suspiciously. Upon checking their passports, it was discovered that their visas had expired, leading to their arrest. They were all taken for further legal action.

 

Further investigation revealed that the three had criminal records in the Maldives for jointly assaulting someone with a sharp object and threatening others.

 

They had used weapons to stab the victim in the head, face, and body, causing severe injuries. They were part of the East Coast Gang, a violent local crime group in the Maldives involved in drug trafficking. These individuals were also on INTERPOL's Red Notice list.

The Immigration Bureau would like to inform the public that they maintain strict measures to monitor, crack down, and prevent various offences, including the surveillance of both Thai nationals and foreigners with arrest warrants.

 

They also monitor the entry and exit of individuals into Thailand. If any member of the public has information about illegal activities, they are encouraged to contact the Immigration Bureau at the Chalermprakiat Building, located at 904 Moo 6, Banmai Subdistrict, Pak Kret District, Nonthaburi 11120, or contact the local immigration office in your area or visit www.immigration.go.th.

So immigration just happened to be at this condo. And saw this foreigner acting suspiciously? I'm sorry but what is suspicious behavior in a condo where he was just hanging out and living? 

 

Sounds more like someone tipped immigration and the man began to act suspicious when immigration began walking his way. Other than the threat to be stopped. why would the man act suspicious and immigration be called to check?

No, they don´t. They only catch people on overstay by checking passports and after find out the rest. If they monitor, these three guys would not been able to enter nor stay in Thailand as they would have found them much earlier. Lies, lies and more lies. Talk, talk and talk just to keep up the fake wall of good looks.

Hilarious that they put that statement out, when they were on a red notice, but still allowed in.

Obviously people leave before there is a court verdict, in that case there would not be a interpol notice yet when arriving, hence they overstay after.

You lack common sense really, the answer is in my comment above. Once you are listed red on interpol, and they would check you, they do see that right away. You would not be entering with a live red interpol warrant.

They should've chosen the UK as their location for their overstay/nefarious activities, first sign of trouble, lodge an 'asylum-claim', job's a good 'un!😊

Agreed, except that a red notice is not a warrant, it's just a notice.

Perhaps they enter before the notice is issued, i.e. after they've absconded - there's no need for a notice if they aren't on the run.

Red is the #1 color for Chinese.  Immigration probably thinks a red notice is a kind of privilege for important VIPs.

A Red Notice is not an international arrest warrant. The individuals are wanted by the requesting member country, or international tribunal.

Yes, these Interpol lists seem to largely ignored by Thai Immigration. It is only when some "concerned citizen" reports some "suspicious behaviour" that they spring into action.

Right religion too.Mr Mohamed would feel at home in the UK.Wonder if him and his mates are any good at grooming?They could replace the 7 that it's took 20 years to bring them to court for the Rotherham scandal.That is 7 out of the 157 who committed these horrific acts but the police couldn't find the other 150.

Did I quote your comment? No, I quoted the news. My would I lack common sense? Because I don´t read your post? I was just referring to that they always catch people on overstay, before they check if they are on the list. Would be quite easy  check the list on a regular basis, and compare against people who have entered and are in the country.
