How do they personally affect me? Well I wasnt a crime victim this summer, but you can sure see it in the prices. Hell you used to be able to get a roast chicken at the grocery for $6.99, they are $9.99.

Secret service was approved by president Lincoln, on the day he was shot. Their mandate was to tackle rampant counterfeiting of US currency for the Treasury Department. As such they had to operate in secret, to infiltrate and destroy these illegal operations. It wasn't until 1901 that they were assigned tasks of protecting the presidents. They were the first intelligence gathering organisation in the US, which pave way for FBI formation in 1908. In 2003, the Secret Service was moved from under Treasury Department to Department of Homeland Security. Their scope also increased, to protect not only sitting presidents, but also candidates, past presidents, and their families, along with some other visible positions in the US government.

Soon, Trump and Vance will claim that "they" are once again trying to silence him. Who are "they"? Anyone who opposes Trump. On the campaign trail, Vance has suggested that "they" tried to silence Trump through impeachment, the courts, and now, through assassination attempts. This tactic is known as stochastic terrorism—political violence incited through inflammatory public rhetoric. It's the same kind of rhetoric that led to the events of January 6th.

According to Wikipedia, “the public figure can plausibly deny responsibility for any subsequent attacks because their words were not an explicit call for violence, and there is no direct link between the instigator and the attacker. This is the key distinction between stochastic terrorism and other forms of terrorism.”

Trump frequently describes his opponents as guilty of "treason"—a crime punishable by death. This is not typical political discourse; it's stochastic terrorism. By labeling his enemies as traitors, Trump is fueling a dangerous narrative. 

 

It would surely be better for Trump to be removed at the ballot box, not by bullets. Fortunately, it seems evermore likely as he makes more frequent disordered, fantasy statements like, "They're eating the dogs!" This is also stochastic terrorism, as he's targeted a specific minority group (Haitians) in the two small towns. They are at risk for their lives now. It's a kind of blood libel, since pets are seen as family members.

A second attempt puts both candidates at an elevated risk for political violence, which is extremely worrisome from the standpoint of political stability, no matter which party you support.

There are easy solutions well within the ability of both parties to stop this volatile political instability. Ban assault weapons and stop inciting violence and spreading lies. Unfortunately one party willing while the other is compounding the situation and can't stop the incitement.
