I have studied & analysed that the expats living particularly in Pattaya Jomtien don't like each other

I'm not talking about the two week tourists in Soi Bukhao who are mostly very friendly bunch I'm talking about the old expat living in Pattaya particularly Jomtien

I was in this Friendship supermarket today when I overheard a big old European guy in his accent I think German, say "oh the smell is overpowering," I heard this from another aisle and then he said it again "oh the smell "

I went to investigate to see a big fat European guy with I presume his Thai wife metres away from a elderly disheveled old farang wearing what looked like old clothes with a t shirt and long shorts which were ripped

You all must be nice to each other in Pattaya,I'm not talking about the 2 week tourist I'm talking about the old expats who seem to either hate the 2 week tourist or are jealous of each other

I saw a two young farangs trying to cross the road in Pattaya  using a crossing ,a Hilux comes past doesn't stop blast his horn , I knew 100% it would be a farang behind the wheel and I was right

I'm not sure if it's like this in other parts of Thailand but you must love each other if your living here in Jomtien, have a community spirit

Well, you got the grumpy old man who looks at you and do not even want to reckonize you at any rural city around in Thailand, and in the other end, those who want to speak with everyone they meet, and impossible to shake off.

At the other end, Madam falang from Isaan, who only speaks thai with other Isaan ladies. Normally, I just nod and smile and walk past when seeing other foreigners, and sometimes stop for a chat if it is natural, but I really do not care about other foreigners that much. Just trying to be polite

In Pattaya it is to many foreigners to really pay attention to anyone.

I think thats a valid point...   [interacting with other foreigners / Westerners just because they are also foreign / Western]...

... If there is a natural conversation point, why not, of course...  but otherwise... speaking with people we dont know, nope... that just odd....  but if eye contact is made there is nothing wrong with a nod, but that is for anyone regardless of nationality etc.... I often catch eye contact with other Thai guys, I give a nod and they nod back... nothing more to it.

A few weeks ago I was at EmSphere looking at the cars...  Another Westerner there (Eastern European I think), started talking to me, we were both interested in the car and talked for about 10mins, about the car....  pleasant enough chappy, pleasant enough converstation - just a human interaction, not forced or ignored...  I never got the other fella's name - there was no need for that...  nevertheless, there was no need to ignore him because I didn't know him, neither was there any need to over-indulge in the converstation...   we had our little chat about the car and were both on our way....

Yep, you got this one right.

Over the many years when I hear an aggressive blast of a car or bike horn it's a foreigner.

I reckon we have a few angry guys here, the ones who sit behind their warrior keyboards, they'd be the horn blasters.

I agree in Pattaya, many hate each other especially if you are from a different country.   Have never been to a place quite like it.

Excessive drinking-boozing, makes people grow more and more sour. aggressive and bitter with age. It's no rocket science. And in Thailand there are quite a few all over.

I think it's more boredom than anything else

If the world was an anus, Patts would be a haemorrhoid.

Go over to the ISG, the Pattaya subforum, that will teach you all you want to know about Pattaya

Aroung 90 percent of expats in Thailand are complete and utter a**holes.

The problem is identifying the ten percent who are not.

Most people pretend to be nice.

There is an overwhelming number of toxic, manipulative, SELFISH and machiavelian expats in Thailand.

And pattaya is a hotspot of course, because most people are there because they think prostitution is OK. The general mindset being if something suits them and they enjoy it then its something they should do etc

I'm wondering where does one go to find the surveys that show this high of a percentage. 90% is a very high number and that would mean you need to go to every province, every city and all areas where expats live and run surveys to be sure you get an accurate percentage. In my personal experience, I would think the number was maybe 10-15%, just from noticing how all of the expats I've run into in a social setting acted. You would still have to subtract the many who just want to keep to themselves and aren't social people anyway. In 6 years I've seen maybe three out of a couple of hundred that acted like a**holes. The rest were pleasant with some acting guarded and looking away when I approached them in a public setting. Of course some might move here because they don't want to be found out for a few reasons but that doesn't mean they are a**holes but afraid to have their cover blown.

I do not hate them I just do not feel obligated to share their fundamental misunderstanding that I am happy to commiserate with them and enjoy their company, when yes I actually wish to avoid them 90 percent

Every time I attend Chiang Mai immigration I put on a polo shirt long trousers / jeans and closed-toed shoes. Not too much to ask . So this ol bloke  sat up next to me decided he had been waited too long in the TM30 queue and started a conversation with "They really hate us dont they?"

I dont know buddy sure they hate you or your attitude?

Well this guy did not smell but he was wearing apparently clean but very very well worn T-shirt and cargo shorts with sandals.   Paint drips, holes. Really like the clothes he wears mow his lawn. He had needed to see a barber, a pedicurist, and a dermatologist for issues including Dialated pores of Wiener I saw another young lady who had less clothes on than Lara Croft Tomb Raider.  No Safari shorts but what appeared to be near to bikini bottoms with her butt cheeks hanging out.

I guess if Chiang Mai immigration serves these people instead of sending them home to change cant blame them for their disrespectful attitudes .
