Jealousy.
Vicarious jealousy - I wish, like him, I was young, because I had so much fun back when I was, and I assume he is having fun now.

Same reason car drivers hate cyclists.  Why is he out there enjoying his bike ride while I am stuck in a metal box forming a traffic jam?

SC

Might dislike his attitude toward older expats, and first 30 was enough of him.

Not even one minute into the video, he asks for money.

That is one of the things many people hate about those YouTubers who want money and fame.

I like to watch interesting YouTube videos, and when I like them, I click on Like and maybe I subscribe - after I saw the video.

What's the point of telling people to do that when they didn't see anything yet?

And we older guys are not so stupid to see no differences. And in many cases, we don't want to be like these younger guys, sitting for hours in a coffee shop, demanding power and WiFi, and drinking a cup of coffee over two hours. No, thank you. I am different.

I don’t hate younger expats in any way I just don’t mix in the same social circles. What I do dislike is people raising such unimportant issues and trying to make money off it. Why should I by him a coffee when I wouldn’t mix with him socially anyway. There are far more interesting people to subscribe to (Bangkok Pat being one) should I wish to. Personally I switched this guy off after a minute any way not into boring content, only my opinion of course.

Yawn . Just another Johnny come lately jealous of those who arrived here while he was still in his nappies. They have already read the book and got the tee shirt while he is trying to play catch up and eek out an existence on YouTube.

Come on now - or are you being serious (/ delusional)?

  • Author

FWIW I think the guy is very similar to many (most imho) of the older sexpats:

He seems pretty thick so tailor made for the brain dead culture.  I.e In Europe he's noticeably thick but definitely NOT noticeably stupid in Thailand - in Thailand he's almost certainly WAY above average intelligence - hence the smug superiority - it's one of the ways Thailand seduces you - the people are so daft you can start to feel like a genius or 'intelligent' even if youre a moron.

He's also pretty dorky, and has dodgy skin so probably can't get any girls he (delusionally) thinks he deserves in his home country so is playing the 'youngish farang' arbitrage in Thailand - whereas older sexpats play the (quickly narrowing) $£E money arbitrage.

At the moment he probably doesn't (usually) pay for it (financially) but Thailand is a trap so there's a good chance that, in time, he'll be sitting on Soi Buakhao, breathing in the fumes, and moaning about young 'expats' who 'don't know nuffin'.

Just a matter of time imho.

In the meantime, I've got no malice for him getting freebies.

Every dog has/had his day.

Nah, he is just high on himself who need acceptance for what he do, at the same time trying to create some content that will bring more viewers.

Well, who wants to see his repetive negative lashing out on elderly expats, and pay for it?

Coffe money my A, he will one day find himself broke, his gf leaves him, and he have no insurance, no future, and no retirement plan.

He will sooner or later experience the real life when he have to find something else than trying to be an influencer.

Never gave it that much thought until reading about it here.

Might make you feel better but in reality it's impossible to know.

Maybe he has rich parents - or at least property rich parents.

I doubt he's paying his way through 'buy me a coffee' donations though -

esp. if he's expecting them from boomers :-)))))

This reads like a "Bob Smith" thread, to be ignored as rubbish.........😂

Short answer is pure jealousy.

I'd wager that a lot of older expats tarted [sic] out like the lad in the vid: getting high off & believing in the 'hansum man' nonsense.

Eventually they realised they've been deceived - hence the bitterness & snarkiness many on AN display - Trapped in a country surrounded by con wimmin or, at best, women who have less than zero interest in them = a VERY bitter pill to swallow.

This is why - esp. in Thailand - money number 1 (2,3,4,5...)!

"Scratch the surface of any cynic, and you will find a wounded idealist underneath."

Yep, to be ignored, a baiting thread.......:coffee1:

Drivers (actually everyone) hates cyclist because they're often incredibly selfish and arrogant.  They expect to have the rights of a car when it suits them (and get extremely angry when they don't), but then suddenly have the rights of a pedestrian when they face some sort of obstacle.

Yep but u just went a bit off road 😉

Be careful of CDS (cyclist derangement syndrome)

At least no one's tried to make this thread about orange man bad (<removed>) though - as yet anyway!

I value most of your posts so pls keep on truckin'  : )

Someone else has noticed the hate too it seems (scheduled for tomorrow).

If these are the guys presenting I doubt  they'll add much of value as I surely neither live in Thailand with those beards - they'd make the heat even more unbearable.

Thanks - Maybe that's it!

From the boards on here we can tell that many older sexpats are massive Kamala Harris fans - or at least hate her nemesis.

As they can see she's losing badly theyre VERY unhappy and taking out their rage on younger expats (amongst others) who prolly don't even realise there is an election on.

So the younger 'expats' are misinterpreting the anger and hatred towards them on the likes of Soi Buakhao as a 'hatred of their youth' and ability to get freebies whereas, in reality, it's all Don's fault!

So Trump strikes again!

OMB!!!

Case closed!

Maybe it will continue after the election - esp if they're bad losers.

Will be interesting to watch

Make me feel better about what?

If he had rich parents or heritaged a larger fortune, I doubt he would ask for coffe money.

Making popularity by talking negative about one large group, is not especially smart, since his segment is already quite narrow. We'll anyway, tomorow there will be a new one trying exactly the same approach with another twist.

Narrow and single minded people is everywhere, can't escape them, and they are well represented here at AN

I didn't even bother watching the video but still agree with you 100%.

Simple fact is, I've got a face like a bulldog chewing an angry wasp that was then set on fire and the flames beaten out with a cricket bat.

Thailand was my only hope of pulling a bird.

I've got nothing against the youngsters, I just swerve them like the plague. A lot of them think 'been there, done that'. They haven't got a clue, bless 'em.

Surely you should be feeling sorry for me looking like that! At the very least you should feel sorry for my Mrs. She has to look at me now and again although she tries to avoid it.

To put it in perspective, I was offered a modelling contract..... for balaclavas.
