Authorities are investigating the death of a 27-year-old Australian tourist, Mr. Jayson Peter (surname withheld), who was found deceased in his hotel room on Soi 3 in Pattaya’s Nong Prue subdistrict. The discovery was made early morning on October 30, after Pattaya’s Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre received an emergency call and coordinated with Pattaya City Police to respond.

The tourist was found in Room 2412 on the fourth floor, lying on his back, shirtless, and dressed only in black shorts with a waist pouch. While there were no signs of struggle in the room, officers found ketamine, cannabis, and drug paraphernalia on a table, all of which were collected as evidence.

In the room, a friend of the deceased was found in an extremely intoxicated state. Rescue workers provided immediate care before transferring him to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Hotel staff reported hearing loud noises from the room prior to the incident. Upon checking, they found the friend in a distressed state, panicking, shouting and questioning why his companion was unresponsive. Concerned, staff immediately contacted authorities.

Once the friend recovers, he will be questioned to help clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident and help determine the exact events that lead to the death.

At the moment police are considering the death as a possible overdose, with the body being sent for an autopsy for confirmation and further investigation continuing.

Or relieved.

Austrian possibly, like my British kid with a TIT for a mother.

Ch.7 lists his full name.
Interestingly, one of the hits for that name is a 27 year old (Austalian) Muay Thai fighter who, naturally, has a lot of tatts as well and trains in Thailand (and fights in Thailand and Cambodia).
Got to be a coincidence. One wouldn't suspect a guy who seemingly works out a lot and fights in the ring would be doing ketamine and weed in a Soi 3 Pattaya hotel room.

1-0 to those saying cannabis can lead to harder drugs

Weed has claimed yet another victim.....

His mate was highly intoxicated. Sounds like they mixed ketamine and alcohol. Very dangerous.

Some people like to take hard drugs then smoke weed for the come-down.

I wonder if he drank beer?

Maybe beer is the gateway substance.

I would say it reduces one's inhibitions so, if the drugs are available, temptation harder to resist. But might it dull the need to get high if already there?

Original reports are wrong?

Looks like the Brit may have passed away.

Australian boxing champion Jayson Tonkin is in a Thai hospital intensive care unit after being found next to the body of his dead boxing friend in a hotel room in the coastal resort city of Pattaya.

According to Pattaya City Police, the two men were found in a room on the fourth floor of the hotel at 12.10am on Wednesday allegedly with 'ketamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia' on the table.

Staff at the Vogue Hotel in Pattaya 'heard a commotion' on the top floor and went to Room 2412 and found the deceased's man's 'friend in a panic' and allegedly 'in a state of severe intoxication'.

Has been for over a decade.
I remember offered some on my first ever trip here. It was everywhere.

The younger generation these days can’t seem to cope very well with it.

Agree, 7News in Australia also says this

“ There was originally some confusion in local media about who had died, with some reports suggesting it was the 27-year-old Tonkin. “

@Georgealbert ?

This report when originally posted was correct from the information the Thai police supplied to the Thai media.

There has been no update released, except for the linked article above.

All Thai media sources in both English and Thai printed the same information.

Probably also methamphetamines and other damned drugs - who knows really?  But of course pot smoking was in the mix. Dealers should be found and tried accordingly. Scum.
