I'm surprised "I'm coming" have so few votes. If this was 10 years ago, I believe that one would been much higher.

  • Love it here.   Our home countries are being ruined by Progressives and Liberalism, couldn't pay me to live there. Not to mention the attitudes of the women.   Viva Thailand.

  • Staying. All things considered  I still like staying in Thailand better than elsewhere.

I suppose if I had unlimited finances, I would probably live here only a few months of the year. I despise the government and immigration here, and it does feel like the nation is moving backwards. Bu

Very interesting thread ,thankyou to the OP

I guess we all have our choices why we don't live in Thailand

Some go back to their home country for medical reasons eg free health care etc

Some just get bored at living in Thailand and doing nothing all day and prefer to visit a few times a year

Some still have family in their own country they can't leave it friends

Or belong to social groups

Some live in government supported housing and were they to give that up they won't get again

I had not planned on but now the United States has been returned to a patriot President, Trump, I just might return and bask in the glory.

What is different between "American type " & "Australian type" ???

What I saw in California Americans are very tense. They worry all the time.

They also have good reason to it: of 20 Cards in accordion wallet only 1 has something left to use. Rest are permanently full tilt... and 30% interest running 24/7. Cash? Only one torn up $ 20 bill "in case". Of what?

Aussies? They come relaxed, smiling and rent V8 Hot Rod at LAX. Put top down and let it rip! Every light is like LeMans start. They enjoy life. Hell to worry how to pay the trip later!

Only thing they ever complain "No Vegemite", what ever that poison is.

Healthcare in Thailand is one of the best

Why then does he link it to his YouTube channel? YouTube is click bait.

The OP is not about " A discussion about the pros and cons of living in Thailand"

No. It has a sinister title - Many foreigners are leaving Thailand

So, immediately you think - Now what? Tax? Poor education? Immigration whims? The heat? Corruption? Bangkok traffic?

As I said:- We've been discussing this since ThaiVisa heydays.

But it cost a fortune when you have free (paid by tax) Healthcare and social security in your orign country. It is decent in the Nordic countries, and even better if you have an additional private insurance securing you a full package in 7 to 20 days and no waiting line. At 56 I pay 25 000,- baht a year.

Only 6 people indicated they are on their way to Thailand, in spite of the fact that 20,000 + DTVs were issued since July.

Why do you believe I link to my YouTube channel? It's just by coincidence he showed up in my feed after the bar begging thread, and I linked it to my topic. He have not left yet, but I have

Maybe the younger generation or newcomers do not bother looking up forums? I didn't look up forums before I already traveled a bit, and I found a few because of visa questions.

I honestly don't give a damn. Why is the YouTube on your thread  then?

Many may have same problem as I do:

Bullet belt getting empty, or shooting blanks, thanks to decades of generous shooting... 😉

On second thought, you might be right.

There might be something more sinister going on.

A lot of expats leave Thailand and then come on here and try to convince everyone else that Thailand sucks.

If they are coming it's highly likely they do not know about Asean Now.  I didn't discover it until I had been here for awhile--and I still run into people living here who have never heard of it.

if wife has a job in 2025 staying, if no leaving.

A post not in English has been removed.

@giog please note forum rules and post in English.

Rule 16. English is the only permitted language anywhere on ASEAN NOW, except within the Thai language  forum, where using Thai is allowed. Short Thai translations of technical terms are permitted in specialty  forums. While we make allowances for members who do not speak English as their first language, we expect everyone to make an effort to post in a manner that allows others to understand their posts. As an international  forum we have members from many countries in the world, and English is not the first language of every poster.

First came to Thailand in 1962. Married a lovely Thai lady in 1990. We are still together, and very happy.

Not leaving.

I have 3 friends, long term residents of Thailand, who moved to Cambodia around 6 years ago, mainly due to lower costs there.

I was first in Thailand in 1985 and it then seemed 'comparitively' much cheaper then than it is today. Back then Happy Hour in Soi Cowboy was 25 Baht a drink, and an 'all-inclusive' night out cost 1,000-1,500 Baht.

If you are single? Where is the nest place in Thailand to settle, if you plan to continue being single?

Also if you plan to find someone, same question

Anywhere in TH would work for me, if single, and or looking for a relationship.

Avoiding smog is a priority for myself, so it would be probably be Chumphon or lower.  Happy where we are, North of Chumphon, but South of Hua Hin, and close enough to Bangkok, to visit daughter.

Only real considerations are, if you're a fan of P4P, then that limits your choices, on a convenience level.   Or if having a lot of western food options is a priority, especially if you don't cook at home.

You want metro, urban or rural living, no prob.  You want hills or surf, no prob.   TH has it all.

Didn't you leave already ???
