I've never met a teenager yet that I wanted to come live with me.

But that's just me.

My one is different!

And maybe you are just too old for a teenager. 😉

Ok, seriously, how many teenagers work from the age of 12 and more or less have to support themselves and take care of themselves? Not too many. The fact that my gf was without parental supervision since that age made her not the average teenager.

In a way this situation made her stronger. But on the other hand, she missed a lot of what children and teenagers normally learn from their parents at that age. It's complicated.

The Labour Protection Act B.E. 2541: Section 44 of this act states that no employer can employ a child under 15 years old.

She is 16yo

She told police that her daughter allegedly worked at a bar in Soi Buakhao. She was afraid that her daughter might have been deceived about the nature of the work.

That location is known worldwide, and it's reputation.

I'm sure a Thai girl of any age would know what it was about.

Sad, but so often in Thailand.  Mother very determined to find the daughter and a good person, most parents give up after a few short days of searching.

The photo showing the police is located in Soi Buakhao, next to "The Krazy 80,s Bar". The orange-brown striped place opposite with the ice cream cone is Cafe Pitini. The bar tables out front match G&J Bar furniture. I don't know why they chose a Soi 6 "Lust" photo. I suppose they needed a bar with bar girls out front and that was the first one they found. So which photo is real? The one with sexy girl clickbait or the one showing a police raid?

If the authorities did more checks in bars clubs ect

Probably find plenty of  under age girls/ boys  working illegally in Pattaya

It's not  known as the sin City of Thailand for nothing around the World 💰 🤑

Why was the girl running away from home??? Who put her in the bar?? just a few questions to be answered.. Not always the girls fauly as is being suggested.. loverboys are also active here in Thailand... But the bar owner is responsible for these underage working girls as waitress or whatever...  They have to show an id card at least and if doubts, contact the police or parents .....Shame

What are "loverboys"?? Dude, if ya mean guys who love them chicks, just call them like lovers or something.

That's quite a sick comment.

No, it's the truth in many/most cases of young girls working in bars. Been here 30 years and have referred to parents here as "parasitic parents" for...30 years.

"Although it’s a misconception that prostitution is legalized in Thailand due to popular perception and how openly it is promoted, Thai laws are very much against it. Neither prostitution nor solicitation is legal in Thailand, and there are serious consequences for taking part in it. "

Did you even bother to read the link?  Prostitution is illegal in brothels and "public places".  Soliciting for prostitution is illegal.  There is no law against paying someone privately for sexual services.  The Thai law is very similar to the UK law on which much if it is based.

Lot's of schoolgirls, many of them younger as 16 year, working a weekend freelance in Pattaya to earn extra pocket money.
But let's aplaud the Pattaya police for their actions in this particulat case ...
Thailand is rotten as rotten can be.

Would make sense to shut down Pattaya altogether..

Stupid reply. It's the only place to live in Thailand. Just because a kid ran away to work in a bar, There are bars all over the country.
