Seems many getting nabbed these days, you must be crazy to try and take cannabis in your travel case as people are doing, airport detection is better than it was 5/10 years ago

A "partner" can have a number of meanings. In this case the "partner" and foreigner are equals. If a foreigner cannot own a business, it would seem a partner would also not own it but both could operate it.

I agree...    Alcohol and Tobacco are far worse than something such as Marijuana... 

 

Of course, taking nothing is of course better still, but that would be so boring... 

 

Then we have people who swear by micro-dosing LSD...

 

 

I think a lot of drugs are villainized for recreational use, some rightly so of course with some leading to major issues, dependancy, depression, psychosis etc..   but in moderate use, many recreational drugs are far safer than booze and tobacco...

There is no report on whether Daniel’s Thai business partner was involved in the criminal activity. Police have not planned to summon the Thai national for questioning, according to Channel 7’s report.

Daniel is charged under Section 66 of the Narcotics Act for possessing less than 100 grammes of drugs for sale. The penalty includes imprisonment from five years to life and a fine of 50,000 to 500,000 baht.

 

He will be deported from the country and banned for 10 years after receiving his punishment.

It not just the Brits, many people for other countries  take the risk to make a fast buck and in the hope of not being caught. 

 

Most are just mauls for bigger high up dealers

 

I have no sympathy for them when getting caught, they all know the consequences when they except the money for trafficking or the sale of the drugs 

 

I ok with people coming to Thailand, smoke a little weed and enjoy themselves, but to try and bring it home or sell harder drug they deserve what they get........

The Thai police missed an opportunity to arrest the foreign buyers the British drug seller had accumulated over six months.

There will be a new dealer to take the man's place in no time.

Make the buyers be aware of the consequences if the Thai authorities truly want to stop illegal sales of drugs.

Of course there tourist numbers would be affected and we can't have that can they

Well BusyB,  whilst maybe your correct in what you say and I respect your opinion,  I was bought up in the old school when drugs were a big no go ....  anyone in town who was seen to be a drug user was considered an outcast.  Geeze,  when I was young ... no one ever even mentioned weed .... there were no potheads in my hometown,  folks were more responsible back then .. they had a job, they had a family or a house to look after ..... to busy for drug nonsense.  

and I will stay that way ....  as that's what I was taught.

The amounts of E & coke  are not that big amounts to warrant long sentences, but the meth will be his biggest problem as it effects Thai society, particularly frowned upon.

I wasn't disputing that or your personal rejection of drugs, or even the rights or wrongs of drug consumption.

 

I was merely pointing out that in fact they have a widespread acceptance.throughout societies across the globe. They are factually a multi billion market in most developed countries which says something about their social acceptance - considering they are actually illegal and are being consumed by normally law abiding citizens. For most they are fun. Like some enjoy a few drinks occasionally.

 

The derelict heroin addict is as representative of the issue as the derelict alcoholic is of whisky distillation. And both those cases are actually public health issues, not criminal ones.
