Can anyone tell me how to transfer an app with hundreds of songs on it from one smartphone to another. Thanks.

If you install the app on the new phone and log on you might find the songs magically appear.  Otherwise maybe mention what app it is.

It opens for me.   Maybe your device is blocking it somehow.

I downloaded all these songs and separated them in to three types of songs, Pop, Country and Gospel music into the one app VLC. I just want to transfer the app from one phone to another smartphone.

Also - recommendation: Spotify or Tidal... 

Almost any song you want at your finger tips for a 139 baht per month.

If you save all your music on an SD card on your phone the app can play it from there, and just put the SD card in any phone in the future

Android. I looked at the link given to me by Raindancer. I will need to find a wire or should I say a USB to connect from my phone to my desktop.

If you can communicate from your PC to your phone directly (i.e. through AirDroid) you may not need a cable and can transfer the files that way.

 

I used to have a huge music Library...    100's of albums meticulously copied from DC and downloads into my iTunes...  then about 10 years ago or so, I got Spotify and never looked back....    Just make your own play lists that can get shared across your phone, computer etc... 

 

 

 

Vlc doesn't have your songs. They exist in files on your device. The files need to be moved to your new device.

 

I use musicolet app to play music on all my devices. Load it and let it scan and it will find them, then they can be moved.

Just asking because I don't know, but won't Spotify mean you have to always be connected to the internet?

You can download tunes from Spotify. Apple. Tidal etc and play them off line as long as you are still a member.

The music is not in the app. The music is in the memory or on the sd-card. The app is just the "handler" of the music. You can use different music apps for playing same music.

Last time I bought a new android phone I could just place it between the old android phone and transfer all the files and apps to the new one. Without a cable. That was a Samsung.

I looked at that Richard, it is no problem getting songs, it is transferring them from one smartphone to another.

No...   there are two options: 

1)  Standard Spotify (free) you need to be connected to the internet (and I think there are some adds every 30mins - not quite sure about that one).

2) Premium Spotify (monthly fee - 139 baht) and you can download all your songs (particularly useful when travelling)

I looked at that Richard, it is no problem getting songs, it is transferring them from one smartphone to another.

 

If referring to Spotify - there is nothing to transfer. Your playlists are linked to your log-in, not the device.

Set your new phone from your old phone using 'Smart Switch'...  (app must be installed on both phones)

 

Hopeless. Why not just go to any phone shop or booth and let staff do it for you?

That's why the SD or XD card option is the way to go. All my 300gb of music is on my external disks and I copy subsets of it  to my phone, tablets and a USB stick for my car. All as MP3 format.

That way I can use WHATEVER program / App I choose to play it and I never need to be online to do so.

For Android I use either "Music Folder Player Free" from the Play Store or 1by1 https://mpesch3.de/1by1.html

If I get a new device, I either swap the card across or get a new card and re-copy from my PC using a USB cable

That's the best advice in this topic.
I have all my "Music" stored on an SD-Card and simply plug the card into a card reader to transfer songs when I want.
I transferred all the songs to my new phone 2 years ago by inserting the  SD-Card into a Card reader and plugging the card reader to my phone using "Total Commander".

 I have a cable with a link from one phone, but need a USB input thing to connect to other phone.

Or a cable to just connect one phone directly to another. Thanks.
