Mother Fatally Wounds Infant Son Before Attempting to End Her Own Life
Picture from responders. An incident unfolded in a worker's accommodation in Bangkok's Prawet District when a 41-year-old Myanmar mother fatally injured her four-month-old son before stabbing herself in an apparent suicide attempt. The mother, who has a history of mental illness, carried out the act in the presence of her elder daughter. Police and emergency services, led by Pol. Col. Surapong Putkao, Chief of Prawet Police Station, responded to the scene at a waste management company's housing complex on On Nut 86. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of the infant, identified as Baby Sai, lying on a mattress. Bloodstains were visible on his right torso, though no external wounds were immediately apparent. Next to the infant was his mother, Miss Yee Than, with three stab wounds beneath her left breast. A fruit knife believed to have been used in the attack was found at the scene. Miss Yee Than was rushed to Sirindhorn Hospital in critical condition. Witnesses reported that the mother had been struggling with mental health issues and had previously displayed self-harming behaviours. According to her elder daughter, who witnessed the incident, the mother was deeply distressed and harboured resentment towards her husband, who was reportedly frequently intoxicated and quarrelled with her. The employer of the family confirmed that the husband often drank heavily and had frequent arguments with the wife, but denied any allegations of physical abuse. The husband, during questioning, acknowledged minor disputes but claimed his wife's deteriorating mental health likely contributed to the tragedy. Pol. Col. Surapong stated that investigators are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the sequence of events. Authorities are also awaiting a forensic examination of the child's body by the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital to confirm the cause of death. -- 2025-01-04 -

Three Dead, One Injured in Collision Between Car & Truck in Uthai Thani
Also keep in mind 2 vehicles travelling at 100km means the impact will be 200km in a head on collision, and the car would absorb most of the impact, not the truck. -
