Chong Mek Border Bounce Report ( 30 Nov 2024 )

Featured Replies

Just back from a morning border bounce at Chong Mek.

No issues at all.

Easy parking at the Thai side right by the departure area.

No finger prints requested on leaving Thailand or re-entry back into Thailand.

US$40= in crisp new notes handed over at Laos visa office - 2 minutes to print the passport label with a smile and I was off.

I was surprised that they were still handing out TM6 forms for entry back in Thailand. ( thought that had been scrapped at land borders ? )

All in all a great experience.....

Has been scrapped at some land borders.

Thanks for report.

So you did it alone and obviously walk into and out of Cambodia.

The way it should be

I went to Chong Mek on the last day of the 60 day VE, on return I asked if I can come through this crossing when this VE expires, they said "Yes", which will be near the end of December ....

It's confusing when you ask someone a question about their circumstances and someone else replies with theirs.

The 30th November 2024 was the Expiry date  -  VE would be  valid till 23.59 that same day.

I had got a new VE stamp 60 days prior, after flying back in via BKK after 4 weeks outside Thailand.

I had been in Thailand from mid June 2024 & flew out 90 days later, after one Extension at Immigration.

Why isn't Chong Mek listed here;

https://immigration.gov.la/checkpoints/

I'm on the way to UR and would like to visit Laos too.

I DO believe it's OK but still....

Because Chong Mek is the name on the Thai side. On the Lao side, the border crossing is called Vang Tao (#26 on that Lao web page).

You can go there, no problem.

Thanks!

It's marked "No e-VISA". But I think transam did use e-VISA there? Anyway, I can use VOA.
