Yeah, used them all the time, but they just direct you to the booking agent with the best price. You don't book with Skyscanner.

I did not know that, but they will notify me about fares as they change. I am going to Scotland next May. I do not want to use KLM as they were a disaster last time and had dreadful food.

Looks like I wll be going with Emirates but I cannot see where you can book seats there.

You can book sets on the Emirates website

Depending on where you're going in the UK Emirates may require an additional flight which is a pain.

I did this in summer, Emirates flights 300K biz class for 2.

But if you are on the cheapest fare you have to pay for seat selection.

No additional flights flying to Glasgow, but maybe to Phuket on way back to Bangkok.

EVA to LHR and BA to GLW not too bad and even a bit cheaper than Emirates in Economy. Total travel time 16:45 and 16:00.

Terminal change at LHR but layover is more than 2 hours.

I did a search on arbitrary dates (May 7 to June 4).

Not used Skyscanner but Matrix Airfare search.

I regularly fly Emirates, and never book and pay for seat selection. Wait til check in and ask the Checker-In what seats are available. I think you can also do it for free via on-line check in.

No Guarantees you will get a seat of your preference. I'd rather pay a relatively small amount for a seat. Its still not guaranteed BTW, read the small print, but 99% of the time you should get the seat you paid for.

Is there not a risk of being bumped off a flight without a seat reservation, though, if it is over-booked (which you may only find out about at check-in)? Or are Emirates flights never over-booked?

Never happened to me in 15 years. Easier when only one passenger.

I always fly Emirates.  Went to Cape Town this year.  Booked flights and seats online.

Excellent airline.

Great for checking flights. Then book direct with the airline. Its better than going through a 3rd party if things go t1ts up.

lol completely opposite experience for me

Agents have been superb never a single problem into 33rd year of coming and 3 times bent over backwards to assist me including just 2 weeks ago when China Southern completely cancelled flights using there 787 Dreamliners

Travel Trolley bent over backwards to inform assist and refund monies in days

People simply cannot grasp that agents like TT Trip.com Mytrip etc etc etc provide massive bookings and income for airlines and when those airlines are told we need this sorted for the client thats exactly what happens

Now you try that with booking direct. Both Eva and Etihad were complete basketcases and thats being poilte when I had minor issues to sort out

Airlines would be receiving even more money from tickets if agents like TTT were not taking their cut .

Cand you show a current example of agents providing cheaper air flight tickets than the airlines themselves

Makes not the slightest difference. whether you're checked in or not

Confirmed reservation still means nothing.

Good time to further add info about agents in my post above. Will heavily precis

Back around 2016 I was offloaded when looking to check in online. Message on screen. Went into Travel agent near me and asked them to call Oman Air and find out the problem

Turned out a massive group of passengers holding open tickets (43 of them) had reconfirmed for my Bangkok Muscat sector ....because of their ticket status they had priority

Again precis. Got hold of Travel Trolley back in London and told then to put a rocket up Oman's arse and get me back on that flight

25 minutes later call comes back you've been reinstated just check in again online...sorted

Book direct with airlines my backside !!

Clueless utterly clueless lol

You go look yourself fella. Choose say Eva to London one way on Eva website on any day you fancy. Then use Skyscanner and I bet at least the first 6 agents (at the very least) will be cheaper

Let me start with making clear that I stay clear of Chinese airlines and Chinese agents for obvious reasons

My last 3 flights (emirates - Etihad and Qatar) I used Skyscanner to search, and each time the results showed booking through the airline directly was the cheapest option.

I also had to cancel one of the flights, 2 weeks after booking, and book a new one, and got a full refund.

Try that with an agent

Why the need to be rude and condescending ?

I don't know and so I am asking you .

Why the need to speak like that ?

Right dont know why I have took the bait but never mind

Took random date of 1st Feb......Eva one way to London

Evas own website using identical terms and conditions of seat is 26,055

Using Skyscanner its 24,743 via Agoda

(In fact Skyscanner confirms Eva's own website price in screenshot as well)

I did the same and Eva is showing cheaper prices than most of the agencies and with the agencies, you need to add all your details before you get the final price , so the cheaper agencies will probably be more expensive with all the add ons

Exactly that. My first flight I tried to book through agencies, and by the time I got all details added, the price was significanly higher than the search result.

With the airlines, your end price will be exactly the same as what you see in the Skycanner search result

Here are some reviews of the Traveloka site that you are promoting , many stating that the price advertised is not the price they pay .

"I would have given 0.
Fake price on skyscanner and google flight.
Click bait with low fee ticket.
After all the effort to put personal information, ticket became unavailable."

When you book direct with an airline, if you have an issue at the airport you can always go to the airline office or check in desk to sort it out.

If you go through a third party you won't be able to do this, they will tell you to contact the agent. Trying to make calls in transit in Dubai for an example could be a pain and stressful.

Its always best to book direct with the airline even if it costs 10 to 20 quid more.

What minor issues did you need sorting out with EVA and Ethiad that make them basket cases? I've never had an issue with either.

They won't even answer if it's the small hours of the morning.
