Of course its racial, everyone knows that. Lets be honest are we suggesting that Thailand is not rascist?

Pure discrimination, and you dont see it in many countries!

All you post means is you don't  understand racism.

You ate the one who is racist...its a common cliche for racists to call other groups of racism.

From your previous comments about immigrants in your country and mine I thought you were fine with discrimination?
No?

Yes they do.

International Student Tuition CostFor international students in the U.S., the cost total of attendance is high – much higher than it is for domestic students. Generally, attending school in the U.S will cost between US$10,000 and US$55,000 per year.

Actually that's completely wrong.  The price at private schools is the same for everyone. At state-supported public colleges and universities, all students, regardless of nationality, pay either in-state or out of state tuition.

@transam - You'll be able to show them who's boss with your pink ID card - hahahahhahahahahhahahaha

You and 'your gang' probably seek out opportunities like this........ you probably live for it, sad but likely true.

Even my pink card didn't work at a military check point trying to enter a park. It is simply called discrimination, which should be illegal, but I suppose they like to remind us constantly where we are, in case we forgot!

I note all the racists screaming discrimination are doing it from their white-cebtric POV, when is fact the NP fees are aimed at ALL foreigners regardless of race colour ot creed. It seems they also think that because all Asians look the same to them, they must look the same to Thai people..... thats just a joke. They are erroneously applying a white perspective

That's not the article at all...the article is about dual pricing policies of the DNP...you are just trying to impose a different policy that you have thought of.

Absolutely agree, but once you live in Thailand, we have to ignore those facts, or amazing Thailand gets just too AMAZING, and criticism in general, and especially by foreigners is not  being handled very well.

Advocates for dual pricing insist that these funds are critical for sustaining the infrastructure and services that make the sites attractive and accessible to all visitors

There is simply no evidence to support this.

For a start entrance fees are not the only way these attractions are funded.

yes, has ruined my / family days many times over, but who cares, they certainly don't.

I refuse to pay more by making a u turn, since  I can live very well without being ripped just because I am a foreigner!

That all depends on how you look at it

No, it depends on your ability to read and understand the article. The article makes no mention of foreign tax payers at all....that's some thing you've added. I'm assuming you then think dual pricing is fine if you're  a foreign tourist but not if you work here or live here long term?

Howsignificant would the effects be of thatcinsidering tourists add up to over 35 million and long term foreign residents at in the hundreds thousands?

I refuse to enter any park that adopts this discriminatory practice. I live here, support a thai family and probably pay more taxes than the average thai but am treated like this !!

As a foreigner, myself and 2 others got into the War museum in Ottawa free of charge while Canadians were having to pay full price - should that be illegal

In the UK old people can use the buses free of charge - should that be illegal.

Dual pricing is a common practice worldwide, the main problem with the Thai arrangement is the inconsistancy and degree of differential.

I have been visiting and camping in National parks for over20 years.

I used to talk my way in at local prices until about 7 years ago when they stiffened up the implementation.

Not going to these places is cutting off you nose to spite your face.

The policy is a mistake, and most of the rangers I've spoken to would agree. (Except for one loony at Kaeng Krachan!)

Thr policy is just part of how Thailands national parks are run.... very ineffectively. They are part of Thailands national heritage and as so, part of the product sold to tourists. They are clearly making a cod's ear of this.

The only thing more daft is the group of ill-informed and frankly ignorant expats and foreigners who completely misjudge the situation because of their blinkered prejudices.

Tourists coming to Thailand expect to pay higher prices after what they have paid in air fares  hotel ect

A price to visit the parks ect is nothing

But expats who reside in Thailand well that's a other story 🙄

The Royal Melbourne Golf Club is an elite, private Members’ club. If you don't mind waiting ten years, the joining fee alone is nearly $20k AU, plus an annual sub of about $6K. As an Australian, If I'm from outside Victoria, I would be paying $500 for a guest round.  Guest fees are based on residency.

As for Thailand, I  vote with my feet. I'm not paying x10 to visit some waterfall. Double, no problem but not ten times. Maybe if I were on my first trip overseas, it would be different, but I've traveled a lot, seen plenty of wonderful sights. When I spent a long time in the US, I liked the National Parks pass you could buy that let you into all of their many spectacular parks for one yearly fee.

My Aussie friend lives in Thailand and showed his Victoria DL, I think to get the local discount. It is the same as Thailand giving discount to locals.

Well overpriced anyway. I think those from Victoria get cheaper than Aussies outside.

Not true. Anyways, Thailand is a developing country, it's rather pathetic those coming from rich Western countries, especially those that we allow to retire here in paradise so easily, complain about the locals getting discount.

Do you really want equality? if you are from USA, then let's make you invest 16 million baht in order to get your long-term visa. I thought not, you can't burn your cake and eat it at both ends.

You appear to have no understanding of the OP....its about dual pricing in touristm ...not immigration policies
