Biden Confirms Attendance at Trump’s Inauguration, Emphasizes Democratic Values

President Joe Biden has confirmed he will attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump next month, reaffirming his commitment to upholding democratic traditions. Speaking with MeidasTouch host Ben Meiselas on Thursday, Biden said, “Of course I am. The only president I avoided the inauguration of is the guy about to be inaugurated.”

The announcement follows a statement from the White House last month that both Biden and First Lady Jill Biden would honor their pledge to attend the inauguration of the election's victor. "The president promised that he would attend the inauguration of whomever won the election. He and the first lady are going to honor that promise and attend the inauguration," White House senior deputy press secretary Andrew Bates reiterated.

This gesture contrasts sharply with the precedent set in 2021 when Trump declined to attend Biden’s inauguration. At the time, Trump faced significant backlash for his role in the events surrounding the January 6 Capitol riot.

Bates emphasized the importance of Biden’s decision to attend, framing it as a commitment to democracy. "Biden views attending the inauguration as an important demonstration of commitment to our democratic values and to honoring the will of the people as we continue to provide an orderly and effective transition," Bates explained.

Biden has frequently highlighted the importance of a peaceful transfer of power as a cornerstone of American democracy. Last month, he met with Trump to discuss the forthcoming transition, with both leaders pledging a smooth and orderly handover.

The upcoming inauguration marks a rare moment in modern American politics where a sitting president attends the inauguration of a former rival returning to office. This act, Biden believes, underscores the resilience of democratic norms despite partisan divides.

Good for Joe!  He seems to be laughing all the way to his safe place basement in Delaware since the election and his forced removal by Pelosi, Obama and Harris.

Good news, let's hope he can remember where the Capitol Building is?

Don't worry, MOMY JILL will hold his hand.  What will be interesting is if he thinks it is his inauguration

Don't expect Kamala she is too busy teaching public speaking LOL.

No, but you can expect some serious rioting in democrat states when it happens - the old sneakers and tvs have already worn out and need replacing. Hopefully trump will round up every democrat that supported the riots and lock up those that did nothing about the blm riots

Not so sure about that. After the Penny verdict BLM and its supreme commanding idiot promised riots and nobody showed up. The tide is changing and that crap doesn't sell anymore.

Yes, as much as I loathe that Trump was elected, I assumed Biden would attend his inauguration. I also expect Kamala Harris and all of Biden's senior staff to be there. That's the way it should be.

But will he have to pay 1 million USD like the other attendees?

When Dick Cheney attended Obama's inauguration he did so in a wheelchair, with a questionable excuse for it.  IMO he did not want to stand to respect a you-know-what.

Why would Biden attend the inauguration of a fascist MAGA threat to democracy hitler dictator that will destroy America? Seems contradictory in a convoluted way to everything that the left has been yelling and screaming about for the last few years.

He wants to give Trump the National Socialist salute. The question is, can he find his arm.

Biden, Harris, and all of Biden's senior staff will attend the inauguration of a ..."fascist MAGA threat to democracy hitler dictator that will destroy America" because this POS was elected by the people via the Electoral College, and Biden respects our (USA's) representative democracy. If that's the president the voters want, then that's what they'll get. https://assets.aseannow.com/forum/uploads/emoticons/sad.gif

Some seriously highbrow contributions from the MAGA fans on this thread.....well impressed with their in-depth analysis' and views.

No mention of Trump not attending Biden's inauguration.......the only outgoing president in 150 years not to attend the incoming president's inauguration.....I could mention that maybe his bone spurs were hurting, but that would be a childish comment......mmm?

Exactly. That a big difference between a dignified President, and a crook who couldn't face the reality that he lost the 2020 election, evoked ridiculous conspiration theories to fool the gullible, and sent a mob to the Capitol. 🙂

Trump has been adjudicated by Colorado supreme court for  being an insurrectionist and this was not negated when SCOTUS review a case on this subject. He should not be sworn in.

14th amendment, section 3 verbatim. Highlights mine.

"Section 3.
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

Congress has not removed such disability

As Biden is still President, he could deny inauguration of Trump per Constitution as part of his official duties which SCOTUS said would make him immune from any charges....

Nice way to spark a civil war. The reality is that Trump won the election and  the people have spoken. They can speak again in 2 years and vote  to give the Democrats control of the House and Senate. Then they can impeach him.

I learned that those laws are for the little people, not the top dogs, when Hillary had that email kerfuffle. She flat out broke the law that stated how she should have maintained that server in a secure setting but didn't. There was no denial from her, she broke that law which should have disqualified her from ever holding a government office of any sort again. Now we have a Nazi sympathizer running the shadow government before any actual transfer of power, and a felon about to be inaugurated as president (though we all know he'll be Musk's lapdog). Amerikkkanistan is no longer under the rule of law by any stretch of the imagination.
