December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post I live very near the beach/Hilton. As most know they have set up for the big holiday party with stages for the entertainers and massive sound systems. The noise is almost unbearable...it went on off and on most of sunday at very loud volumes. On sunday night it was still super loud with lot of rap/hiphop type "music"...this went on til after midnight last night. If that was not enough it started up again at 6;30 am this morning, monday, louder than ever. It is now almost 8 am and still going strong. They seem to be testing the system or just playing it for their own amusement. Of course this is basically across the street from the soi 9 police station whose windows no doubt are vibrating from the noise. And yet obviously there is no effort to wallk across the street and tell those idiots to cut it out. Surely there must be some rules/law against this? Maybe the cops are too busy setting up to hand out tickets to passing motobikes to notice? Yes I know TIT but even here is it really necessary to start it up at 6;30 am no doubt waking up thousands of people who live or stay in hotels anywhere near the beach?
December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post Welcome to ''Noise Land''. Loud noises abound. Barking dogs all day, all night, small cc motorbikes with modified exhaust, diesel pickups with modified exhaust , pickup trucks driving around with monster speakers at full blast promoting some sales event and more. All for very little real use or value, just to make noise. Guess it's a Thai thing. TIT.
December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post And you just experience the prelude for the NYE party madness with complete traffic gridlock.
December 30, 20241 yr Author Popular Post They must have read my post...seems they have turned it off at 8am..fingers crosssed....question remains did they really need to do it at 6;30 am? Did none of the police across the street think gee maybe we should tell them to wait a few hours? I wonder if the idiots got up this early to make noise or maybe they just woke up after late night cocktails and decide lets play rap at top volume at 6;30 in the morning. I used to live in upcountry thailand and yes lot of dogs and roosters etc but nothing at all like having rap music at a zillion decibels at 6;30 am from massive speakers.

December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post Options: Earplugs and crank up the fan to drown out the noise. Grab an ax and you know what to the power cables. Leave.
December 30, 20241 yr Author Popular Post Even earplugs don't work on that level of volume and those massive speakers. Trying to drown out that noise? Good luck. Already planning a trip next year over xmas/new years as i highly doubt it will go away. I am sure all the people paying big bucks to stay at hilton really enjoyed being blasted out of their expensive beds at 6;30 am. Maybe a couple of hiso big wigs will complain to the mayor or police chief and that would be the only hope of ending it.
December 30, 20241 yr Pray for heavy rain and a strong offshore breeze. Unlikely, so maybe invest in some noise cancelling earbuds - they actually work very well.

I have those earbuds...but even they can';t block out this level of "music" ...best solution is to simply leave which i will do next year.

I thought about going away for a few days this year, but everywhere I looked at in Thailand, I just imagined groups of Thais hanging out there partying until 6am. Nothing "wrong" with that, but if I'm not planning to party all night, I would like to sleep. They need "party free zones" for people who just want to spend the holiday relaxing in peace and quiet.

December 30, 20241 yr Even in our village they started 5:30 with music, drums or chanting in a lovely mix, and it is on and off all day, and sometimes all night. At the Hotel next to Central in Rayong we had concert going on until midnight both days. Tit

December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post If you cannot tolerate noise ,at any time of the day or night ,you are in the wrong country, the noise from battling loudspeakers ,one trying to be louder than the other, cockerels, dogs, loud motorbikes ,temple loudspeakers, just a few of the loud noises you hear everyday ,no good complaining ,nobody cares .....after the New Year it will be back to some form of normality , buy some ear plugs ... regards Worgeordie

December 30, 20241 yr Popular Post I live near Thepprasit, and when I went for my pre-bedtime walk last night the music was still blaring away in the distance, but loud enough even out here. At the time, I thought to myself, "My gosh, if it's that loud here what on earth must it be like in, say VT6, right by the racket?" We know now, thanks.
