Risk takers, and people who is good at taking calculated rusk have its purpose when crises appears, where others do nothing out of fear, freeze or pure egoism  let others do the dirty job for them without risking anthing themselves.

 

When that is said, risk takers comes in many forms and shapes, and not one is alike the other one, except the copy cats who comes after the pioneers have tried and failed for then take part for their personal egoistic reasons.

I wouldn’t have posted the video until back in the home country, little if no consequences to face.

I don't have a massive issue with what they did.  I wouldn't do it of course, but the didn't harm anyone.  And it's safer than being a passenger in a minibus in Thailand!

One who have done it, and not riding as a passenger in a minivan in Thailand after two paid suicide rides, still think you have statistics on your side if you choose minivan transport, even in Thailand. 

 

One of my friends and who I met throughout my base jumping carrier who are not with us anymore in the video below.

 

My statistics based on maybe I met 300 basjumpers from all over the world, 67 are dead by base jumping and a few more died of suicides, car accidents, skydiving, drugs.

 

So in total 80 maybe without trying to figure out every one who is still alive or not. 

 

High risk takers tends to meet Darwin somewhere along their journey, ending up dead or somehow crippled for lifetime. I'm maybe 2 out of 3 who made an active jumping carrier and got out of it without any harm or damage. 

 

I know many who got mental health issues after facing friends die in front of them, and never recovered either.

I've not done it myself, but I got a friend who has and is still alive and kicking with no injuries.  Apart from the mental ones from seeing a couple of his mates perish in front of him.  Glad you are still here to reply to my post.

I have a different view on my lifestyle and activities today, than back then. 

 

There is not much to do in life when you have some excess energy, creativity and think A4 life is the dead end. I was lucky to have challenging work as well, so I could channel my energy through work as well.

 

Anyway, I think we need to aknownledge A4 lifestyle is a dead end when everything getting to polished and structured as well illegal. 

 

Some people are born worriers, and need alternative lifestyles and challenges in a world where there is no more fighting for their existence

Still, I'd suggest they keep Thailand off their travel itinerary, for awhile at least.

Hey. Bar conversations can be very fun and enlightening at the same time. Do you know how many Vietnam war veterans, ex special op guys etc I have met this way and learned about their fascinating experiences?! Also, sometimes, at bars, you get to meet some guys who have been unfortunate enough to get into financial trouble, and you get to help them a little and get the satisfaction of doing a good deed! 

 

On a serious note, I prefer sitting at bars, drinking and listening to and telling past experiences, to basejumping or skydiving. I have recently quit drinking but it was almost all fun while it lasted; nearly 4 decades 🙂

Base-jumping in a busy area is an activity not only dangerous for those taking part, but can have innocent victims too - If something goes wrong, pedestrians underneath and those in the landing area are at risk.

 

The authorities are 100% correct for attempting to deal with this issue - although it was 3 months ago, and I suspect those who took part are no longer in Thailand.

So why has it taken the authorities 3 months to "take an interest"?

Yes, quitting is cheaper, New Years Eve, I drank one bottle of beer, watched Robot-Wars on YouTube and was in bed by 9 pm. In the morning of the 1st I noticed it was just the same as the 31st. I knew it would be but I was alive and well and many others weren't.

Because it took 3 months for the 'social media' to reach them. 

 

Authorities will have had no idea that such activities took place, none whatsoever, until someone high-up was embarrassed by it when someone showed them a social media post.... 

 

Its the same when some fool on a motorcycle posts videos online of themselves pulling wheelies down the main roads - the police react not because they saw it happen, but because someone became higher up 'embarrassed' and instructed subordinates to deal with it...     

 

 

As my mom used to say... It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye (but we weren't base jumping) 😂 

Base jumping and a video of it is common in amercia,if they are caught unlucky.But many do it round the world and then on social media.

They did it and now the names are recorded so i don,t think a trip to thailand is happening soon
