Fruit Market - Soi Buakhao opposite Buakhao Market, closed down?

Featured Replies

Anyone know what happened to this fruit market opposite Buakhao Market? It's closed down for good or have they moved somewhere else?

By the looks of it, closed down. The best fruit market is Ratanakorn on Thepprasit

  • Not only is the fruit market closed....But about 6-7-8? Shops next to it are closed too....Some thing BIG will be built here......I dont know if the fruit market moved? Or just closed.

We dont all have personal transport to go to the really good fruit markets....

Which Tuesday and Friday market are you referring to?

I presume the big covered one at the Pattaya Tai end of Soi Buakhao. They have a fair no. of fruit vendors normally.

It's a shame because this was the place to buy the biggest Number 0 sized eggs. One pack of 30 eggs were 133 baht. Not sure where else to go to buy my Number 0 sized big eggs from.

What could be so big? Hotel?  More bloody condos?  Mini mall?

This is in the soi bukhao market area  down by South Pattaya Road. Your "massage lady scoop" was about demolishing all of soi 19 and 21 of Soi Bukhao to build a hotel. That's a long way from the Market.

Apparently Buakhao soi 19 and 21 is being demolished and turned into a hotel, next year. Just what we don't need

And open extremely early when very little traffic around. 2am start for the veggies, a bit later for fruit. The meat section I avoid.

About 150 yards to Buakhao down Soi 19

There is a large Indian restaurant going there, information from owner of OK 99 bar who had to close the bar next to the market

1am for vegetables. Two fruit stalls open 24 hours. Meat section is fine, perhaps you are a bit sensitive.

Yes indeed I am. The smell turns my stomach. It's not the meat is off or anything. Just the smell of corpse.

Yes 1am for many stalls but some are still setting up at that time. I used to get Chinese peaches and nectarines from one of the 24 hour fruit stalls (at the main intersection) but they haven't arrived yet. And a very disappointing strawberry showing this year. Maybe it's too early?

It's peculiar that most stalls are run by Cambodians. Has it always been that way? And the use of the main thoroughfare as a rat run by motorbikes is crazy.

I agree the smell of death puts me off plus the entrails and all sorts of things i don't recognise

I agree but it's easy enough to get a "Baht Bus" nearly to Thepprasit and walk the rest.

Not as convenient but possible.

For the best strawberries there is a woman who sells them from a pick-up opposite Empire condo on Soi Boon Kanchana, she is there every year from Dec to March/April currently 140 thb for 500 gems

Sure, I buy from the pickups too when they have strawberries "in stock". I haven't seen any up my way this year though. Pratamnak area. The people who used to sell only strawberries in Ratanakorn haven't had much either recently. I'll have to check.

Many on Second Rd at the Pratamnak Hill end. Some good Indian restaurants there, so it's not all bad. I used to get a Thali for 120 THB. Now 150. But still a very tasty meal.

I doubt there's any demand for an indian restaurant unless they really want to take over the area for indians

How many Indians do you see eating in an Indian restaurant? I see hundreds milling around the area on 2nd Road, but not often in any restaurants. Are they just a front for other activities?

So what? Racist much?
