During this year's Chinese New Year, tourists visiting Pattaya's famous Walking Street experienced more than vibrant neon lights and lively nightlife. Law enforcement was highly visible, with Pattaya Tourist Police, local police, and the US Navy Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) teaming up for a major safety operation aimed at protecting visitors.

The operation was led by Police Major General Noraseth Suwannnikka, Acting Commander of Tourist Police Division 1. He organized both uniformed and undercover officers to patrol the area, ensuring maximum safety as thousands gathered for the festivities.

Adding a festive spin, the police handed out lucky oranges, a Chinese symbol of prosperity, to tourists on Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier. This effort not only spread goodwill but also promoted the Thailand Tourist Police app. The app, compatible with Android and iOS, helps tourists contact police quickly, aiming to create a safer travel environment in Pattaya.

In response to growing safety concerns in Thailand, this operation reflects the authorities' dedication to maintaining Pattaya's status as a safe and popular destination. Police presence will continue throughout the celebrations, ensuring that visitors have a secure and enjoyable experience.

To enhance tourist safety, the Tourist Police have also set up the Tourist Safety Operation Center (TSOC). This center closely collaborates with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, further committing to the security and service of travelers.

Still won't protect you from being attacted by several security guards if you dare to dipute what you consider to be overcharging on your bill.

Is that burning I see in the night sky ?

The ONLY time Pattaya police ARE visible is when there are cameras filming them doing some work.  This event only happens 3 or 4 times a year.

US Navy MPs  among them.

For watching own sailors?

Scaremongering! If you plan to go to Walking Street just make sure you have someone with you. I recommend the 101st Airborne.
