A foreign motorcyclist remains on the run after fleeing Thailand following a collision with a Thai pedestrian on a road in Phuket, leaving the victim in a serious condition.

 

The Phuket Times shared footage of the accident on Saturday, February 1, with a caption that read, “Foreign motorcyclist hits a pedestrian in the middle of a Phuket road and tries to escape from the scene.”

 

In the video, the male victim was seen crossing the road when a motorcycle, riding at high speed, hit him directly and crashed on the road.

 

The motorcyclist, reported to be a foreign man, rushed to the vehicle and attempted to ride away from the scene when a witness intervened.

 

However, the foreign motorcyclist did not give up and tried to escape again. In the video, the foreigner appeared to run the motorcycle over the victim, who was lying on the road, in an attempt to flee.

 

 

It is unclear whether the foreign man managed to flee the scene immediately, as his actions were blocked from the CCTV camera by a sedan that had stopped at the scene to help the victim.

 

The Phuket Times later reported today, February 3, that the victim remains in a serious condition in hospital. Nevertheless, police left the foreign suspect at large, and he already left Thailand for his home country.

 

According to Phuket Times, the motorcycle was a rental, meaning the foreigner’s identity was easily determined from the documents he provided to the rental shop. His identity was publicly disclosed, but his picture was shared on the page.

 

As of now, police officers and relevant government officials have not yet clarified whether any charges have been issued against the foreigner.

Apparently he must have fled one way or another. A case of hit & run. He`s learning quick. 

 

Lets hope they find him.

If the latter chanced of hauling him back are slim.

Any charges? Driving at speed, reckless driving,  fighting with pedestrians, trying to run over the pedestrian again while fleeing the scene of accident, hit and run ... the list goes on. Not a good look for Thailand that the foreigner could so easily leave the country. Immigration should have been notified immediately and foreigner detained for questioning. 

Is he the poor farang motorcycle version of the Red Bull heir? 'Police left the suspect at large' despite the victim being in a serious condition.  This is after twice attempting to flee the scene and driving over the victim's body. What do you have to do to warrant having charges laid against you?

Before you start saying stuff like this you have to remember if a tie is driving a Porsche with no insurance no tax and kills two people on a motorcycle they walk away free and they're never charged especially in some provinces

In a country where the " rules of the road " are virtually non-existant this shouldnt even be news worthy, but the fact its a foreigner makes it hits the headlines, while not condoning his actions ( which are 100 percent wrong ) it should be taken in context with the vast amounts of illegal driving offences commited every day by the thai population  that mostly go unreported, unless a fatalty is involved or it involves a foreigner

Well I guess there needs to be proof that he was even present. Apparently there is none.

Records just show he rented the bike, not that he was riding it.

Let's see how much effort the thai authorities make into getting him extradited from his home country to face charges here, think he should be brought back but how can they bring a foreigner back when several influential thai citizens are still on the run or have just returned and basically avoided justice 

Seems that he painted over the zebra crossing before fleeing.. Possibly even put the victim on a Thai whisky drip.

Hit and run, the way of the coward, so common in Thailand. 

Hope the guy makes a full recovery.

He even made the classic mistake of picking up the (still running) fallen motorbike by the throttle. Never ends well. 

 

Let's hope they catch him. 

The criminal obviously won't return to Thailand, but he might go to other S.E. Asian countries, not knowing that there may be extradition agreements around the region that will bring him back to Thailand. One way or another, karma will catch up with him either in this world or the next. Good luck, criminal!

Not many civilised countries have extradition treaties with countries that have the death penalty on the statute books. That's why the Thais have no chance of an extradition 

from the look of his eyes in the picture its no wonder he hit something.

Why does the story not provide details about how he has fled the country or mention it beyond the headline?

He must’ve been in Thailand long time. A novice foreigner would’ve done the right thing by helping the victim and waiting for police.

Hit & Run criminal deserves no mercy.

Let us hope they find him track him down and charge him with something very serious like reckless endangerment or perhaps even attempted murder. It was certainly not premeditated, but a fast moving motorcycle is very similar to a missile and one needs to exercise great caution when driving. 

 

Which this absolute imbecile very obviously wasn't doing. 

If that Russian woman in a car Rawai can kill two Thais on a motorbike, and then be back working in her Phuket office a month later, there is no hope for any repercussions here.
